i've only had dessert at Hayes Barton once, and while it was good, it was also pretty expensive and seemed to be more about appearances than flavorthird place, a coffee shop on the other side of the building, has never failed to deliver great dessertdessert at The Point was damn good, too...not to mention the great foodand I know this isn't what you're looking for, but I wanna say that the baklava at Roast Grill is the best in the city[Edited on January 29, 2008 at 9:10 PM. Shaba shabu. I wouldn't normally expect good dessert from a sushi bar, but they have a coconut cake that's out of this world.
1/30/2008 8:25:55 AM
the fractured prune in Brier Creek, its a donut place where you can pick the toppings/glazes. its great if you want something quick for dessert.
1/30/2008 11:13:42 AM
hayes-barton seems way more over-hyped than to actually have quality food. i've been there and i was not impressed at all.[Edited on January 30, 2008 at 11:16 AM. Reason : .]

Caffe Luna has some really good Kahlua cheesecake, or something along those lines. I went there a long time ago and their dessert menu isn't online.

The new cupcake shop on Glennwood. The icing is way to sweet for me but everybody else seems to like them.
1/30/2008 12:18:18 PM
GO to the tavern at second empire... Just order off the dessert menu more casually than going into the restaurant part.

Is there any good place around here to get gelato any more?
1/31/2008 11:38:10 AM
I can't believe no one said Madhatter's in Durham. Some good desserts... also Victoria's Sweets in Morrisville. Good stuff, mostly cakes and pastries.
2/1/2008 12:21:16 AM
oh god.. hard question.... Chilis of course has the molten cake like already stated. Longhorn Steakhouse in Brier Creek has this thing with 7 types of chocolate. Can't remember how the dessert at Twisted Fork was but they do have the dessert first menu where you look at that before the actual menu. That said, anywhere but Ten Ten. Where the hell did they get their pastry chef/recipes? I've never been to a buffet with a worse selection of desserts.

http://www.hereghty.com/apparently i totally missed a couple of posts upand i'm curious as to why someone would think the desserts at a chinese buffet are made by anybody other than some guy who takes them out of the box[Edited on February 1, 2008 at 1:08 AM. Reason : ^]
