Figured t-dub would know all the good places. We're looking for an apartment close to campus for this fall. Doesn't need to be big or anything, though it should allow pets. 1-2 bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen/living room, and washer/dryer. On Wolfline would be preferred. Good management would be nice too. The only one I've been inside is gorman crossing and that was very nice (yes, I've seen the thread about the camel crickets). I don't have high expectations, just want some place cheaper than living in the dorm.

Wildwoods of Lake Johnson though it's not on the Wolfline. Dunno if you want to go that far out though.
1/28/2008 7:38:16 PM
well goddamn if you think gc was very nice, the sky's the limit
1/28/2008 7:38:38 PM

1/28/2008 7:42:36 PM

1/28/2008 7:48:46 PM
^ what makes it good in your opinionAnybody have any thoughts about Parkwood Village or Ivy Commons?]
1/28/2008 7:55:49 PM
ivy commons is the best apt listed in this thread so far[Edited on January 28, 2008 at 7:56 PM. Reason : unless you live at wildwoods but thats not on the wolfline]
1/28/2008 7:56:13 PM
^^I don't live there (I live at Lake Johnson Mews) but I heard from alot of people that live there that it's really nice. 2 bedrooms will run you about $750. There's a waiting list to get in, so they must be doing something right.
1/28/2008 7:58:23 PM
^^ you know anything about ivy commons?^ wow, a waiting lists.
1/28/2008 8:07:27 PM
Ivy commons was $600 for a 2 bedroom, it was decent and a good value. Management was awesome they brought in a brand new washer and dryer the day the old one broke. Power bills were really low. Lot of grad students so not really much noise, no pets allowed though (unless you go through someone who owns their own unit). Also there is 2 wolfline stops one on af and one on crest[Edited on January 28, 2008 at 8:14 PM. Reason : .]
1/28/2008 8:11:24 PM
^^i know its the best apt you have listed in this thread and probably the best apt near campus you can get...thats what i know
1/28/2008 8:12:50 PM
oh, I had heard from someone that it was pet friendly. nmWell is there a list of nearby pet-friendly apartments somewhere? I have a basset hound, and puppy has a rabbit and some fish.
1/28/2008 8:17:01 PM
yo hit up jessiejepp...shes moving out of her place at ivy commons...you oculd take over her place prolly...would work out for both people...shes in a 1 bedroom so you and puppy would save a shitton of money
1/28/2008 8:20:42 PM
DO NOT move in with a girlno matter how much you think you may like herworst mistake you'll ever make[Edited on January 28, 2008 at 8:22 PM. Reason : and thats the goddamn truth]
1/28/2008 8:21:54 PM
I live in Ivy Commons in one of the privately owned units, so I can have a pet if I want (I think I can have a cat, but not a dog). My general thoughts are that the management here is good because you only see them when you need them. They have quickly fixed several problems with my place. Otherwise, they don't really exist because there is no "office" here. The noise varies. There are few parties; however, there is a Hispanic complex that makes quite a bit of noise on a regular basis. And I hear people outside my window pretty often. It depends on which side of the complex you live on. There are no amenities here whatsoever. I wish there was a gym or something. With your rent, you get an apartment, that is all. Very close to two Wolfline routes - Avent Ferry and Greek Court. Most of the people who live here are male Asian and Indian graduate students. All told, it's a decent place to live.
1/28/2008 8:21:55 PM
the summit is okyou can have pets, the places are pretty large, fire place, screened in deck is nice.http://www.aptbook.com/Apartment/ZIP/27606/110.html

1/28/2008 8:28:56 PM
LEARN ME A BOOK
1/28/2008 8:29:55 PM
^x9 @ DNL, yeah thats the idea. Can probably save enough to pay off my car. The other bedroom would be just used for storage because 2 bedrooms seem to be more common place around here.]
1/28/2008 8:30:05 PM
yea seriously. i mean, jesus christ, you know her for a year and you're thinking about moving in with her. You should just off yourself right now
1/28/2008 8:30:17 PM
yo dagreen one...hit up jessiejepp...she doesnt have a 2 bedroom but you and puppy wont need 2 rooms anyway
1/28/2008 8:31:52 PM
1/28/2008 8:31:53 PM
^^ yeah, but we found out further up that ivy commons doesn't take pets, well at least dogs (I guess rabbit in a cage during the day would be fine). If I can't find a pet friendly one, I will gladly hit up on that offer.
1/28/2008 8:35:18 PM
oh damn...didnt know that...figured they'd take pets :/
1/28/2008 8:36:36 PM
I don't think this place was very good but I lived in Townhouses off Trexler court. Actually it sucked but I am sure other people liked living there.Living close to the Wolfline was great.Isn't about any place cheaper than living in the dorms?
1/28/2008 8:40:49 PM
i lived above dakota at wildwoodsplace was nice, quiet, big living room, nice kitchen.
1/28/2008 8:42:39 PM
hell, just about anywhere is probably cheaper than living in the dorms. Most dorms are $2k+ a semester not including internet or phone. Wolf Village is about $2600 with everything so that's about $650/month.
1/28/2008 8:48:38 PM
^, ^^^Yeah, looking at prices it definitely seems cheaper living off campus. How much does water and electricity typically run?
1/28/2008 9:02:15 PM
water is like 150 and electricity is like 110 or so[Edited on January 28, 2008 at 9:03 PM. Reason : and cable/internet is another 100-150]
1/28/2008 9:02:57 PM
^^ water $45 every 2 months, power around $75 a month
1/28/2008 9:04:06 PM
water is 150???? do you have 10 people living in your house??our water bill for 3 people (and a 4th alot of times who also sometimes washed clothes) in a house was never more than $40
1/28/2008 9:04:54 PM
no wonder raleigh is having water issues. Slave Famous never cuts off the faucet.
1/28/2008 9:07:15 PM
I meant to say 50 not 150but I take long ass showers several times a day
1/28/2008 9:07:58 PM
trolls take long showers.
1/28/2008 9:09:55 PM
well it seems gorman crossing is the only one that takes pets on the wolfline as far as I know
1/28/2008 9:41:55 PM
dont move there.... i might end up moving there.
1/28/2008 9:43:07 PM
so why shouldn't we?
1/28/2008 9:43:43 PM
gorman street village isn't too bad. it could be a lot better, and management kinda sucks (but they dont come and bother you at all) i think it will be 335 plus electric for you. but it is a decent sized place; large kitchen,dining/living room combo, and 3 bedrooms each with its own bathroom.[Edited on January 28, 2008 at 9:48 PM. Reason : parkin kinda sucks though]
1/28/2008 9:48:02 PM
^^^ I wouldn't care if you're my neighbor. I bet you are actually a nice person in real life [Edited on January 28, 2008 at 9:49 PM. Reason : ^ they take pets?]]
1/28/2008 9:48:45 PM
sorry, no pets
