2002 was a pretty awesome year for acc basketball, but I don't remember the bottom half of the conference being particularly strong.

Wow, that was really good.1985 Big East was nasty, too. 3 Final Four teams including the National Champions.Coaches: Rollie Massimino, John Thompson, Rick Pitino, Jim Boeheim, Louie Carnasecca.1985 first and second round picks: Patrick Ewing, Chris Mullin, Ed Pinckney, Bill Wennington, Bill Martin, Dwayne McClain.1986 first and second round picks: Dwayne Washington, Walter Berry, Harold Pressley, Rafael Addison, David Wingate, Michael Jackson.1987 first and second round picks: Reggie Williams, Mark Jackson.1988 first and second round picks: Charles Smith, Rony Seikaly, Mark Bryant, Jerome Lane, Shelton Jones.*** Damn, we had a TON of NBA draft picks during the V era...

Well, just looking back at our 1983 National Championship team, they faced a lot of talented teams. UNC had Jordan, Perkins, Worthy, Brad Daugherty. Virginia had Sampson. Maryland had Bias. GT had Mark Price. Duke had Dawkins. I mean, those guys are ACC All-Time type players. I'm not sure if all of those players were playing that year but I'm pretty sure most of those were there that year. Even if one or two weren't there, that's still a pretty damn good conference.

Today's ACC is pretty kickass too though.I'll take a good game over talent any day.
1/27/2008 9:13:21 PM
the games were much better back then. they were well played and high scoring/exciting.
1/27/2008 9:15:37 PM
is it really that hard to type you instead of u?fucking annoying
1/27/2008 9:17:03 PM
is it really that hard to read u as "you". It is three times shorter to type...
1/27/2008 9:27:57 PM

that was a really good year for the acc. i don't know about best ever, but the talent up there as a whole far surpasses the talent in the acc this year for sure.
1/28/2008 8:20:42 AM
how is 2005 gonna be the best ever when we didnt even beat duke/UNC. or even come close.you people

83 would get my vote. wouldnt use the nba as a gauge. there were less teams/players years ago there were also less division 1 teams in bbacc backups during the 60's-80's would start at other programs.
