i have 2gb of memory in my XP pro machine (2.2ghz c2d) and i have NEVER seen it top 80% usage at any time (i've got a memory gauge on the desktop, and when i run games/movies/apps full-screen, i move it to the other monitor so i can still see it)

should i even bother with a page file? i already partition off a 2gb spot and set the page file to fill up that partition 100% to avoid fragmentation, but if there's no reason to use it, i'd just as soon give the space back to my main partition

2gb is hardly enough to be worrying about. Also, partitions only have a moderate tolerance to having their sizes changed, even with the best of tools. Unless you're having performance problems,I don't know why you would want to mess with it.

oh, durr

i'm reformatting and installing the OS onto one drive, with the "my documents" on another (video, audio, pictures, etc.)...currently, it's all on one drive:

C: windows (~50gb)
D: mydocs (~148gb)
E: page (~2gb, hidden)

the OS is going onto an 80gb 7200.11 seagate (perpendicular recording) and the mydocs is going onto 500gb...if i don't need to create an extra partition on the OS drive, i don't want to
