the other owners should just go ahead and buy the raiders and move them south. they can use all the money they make to buy bryant gumbel a bionic personality

if al davis died tomorrow, i'd be a happier person. commitment to excellence my fucking ass. if he had kept gruden who knows how many championships oakland would have this decade. we could be talking about a raiders dynasty instead of a patriots dynasty. finally he goes out and gets a young, promising coach, and now he tries to force him to resign because he wants to bring in his own defensive coordinator instead of the one forced on him. so sick of this shit.[Edited on January 26, 2008 at 12:38 AM. ^Homer much?Gruden couldn't have done any better with the talent they put out there this year.Al Davis is a dumbass and needs to hand the team over. Only the Tampa Rays and LA Clippers are the closest teams to being run as bad.
1/26/2008 1:03:40 AM
The L.A. Clippers have actually been managed better in recent years.

^^orioles, tooand you have to consider the foundation gruden had laid by the time the raiders had their three year division title run. they were respected, they were bringing in big name free agents, etc. of course he wouldn't have done better than kiff with this year's players, but iif gruden were still there, it would likely be an entirely different roster.i was really looking forward to kiffin being around awhile. they only won four games, but it was obvious they were well beyond anywhere they'd been in years. two division wins (two more than in three years prior), three straight games with no sacks, and really only two games where they weren't still in it in the fourth quarter.
1/26/2008 1:45:02 AM
Yeah the way they played down the stretch was encouraging. The Colts game they could have easily won had things go their way.

Also the Florida Marlins management are pretty terrible. They put together two championship teams, but do nothing to keep the team together. They either wouldn't pay the money to the star players or just released some to save money. That's got to be the stupidest franchise ever, and that's why they have games where only 500 or so people show up. Besides Miami fans being fairly fickle they didn't like that the management did nothing to sustain the success from those two years. The first owner claimed massive financial losses after the first world series title and sold the team off. Oh well who knows if you keep putting the product on the field that won you the championship then the fanbase would grow and actually make you money rather than putting together shitty teams that no one wants to see.ESPN had a great piece on "The Top 5 Reasons You Can't Blame George Steinbrenner for the economic divide in Major League Baseball." Steinbrenner actually isn't afraid of spending money to put together a good team and be successful, but then you have owners like that guy that I think owns Wal-Mart that chooses not to spend the money to have a successful team. Then those guys cry foul and say that Steinbrenner isn't playing by the rules, and the Yankees are the Evil Empire. No you asshats aren't being serious about putting a good product on the field and that's why your team sucks, and fans don't come to see the games. You have the money, so spend it.

They also must be doing something wrong when they can't get 10,000 people to come out and watch the world series champions.
1/26/2008 2:14:12 AM
exactly why i like the mlb. people bitch about being able to buy teams in baseball, the real problem is in other leagues where owners get away w/ being cheap.[Edited on January 26, 2008 at 2:18 AM. Reason : i also like the game of baseball]
1/26/2008 2:18:45 AM
^^Its fucking Miami, no sports team ever does well there as far as filling stands go.
