you could literally buy a lonely planet guide book, go there tomorrow and read through it on the plane over and have no major issues. it's hands down the easiest way to get around any country on the planet. their website is pretty good, but you can't beat the booksthat being said, if you follow a book/website/whatever you're going to get the same cities/tours/sights/bars as everyone else. it's good in that you'll meet a lot of other travelers and it'll help you compress your trip if you're rushed for time, but depending on your personality and what you want to do you could always just wing it. make no plans, just make one decision at a time and see where it takes you. some of the best times i've ever had were started this way.i just got back from six months in australia, a month in new zealand, a month in india, a month in thailand, and month in cambodia and a month split between finland and switzerland and i've done a little bit of both style. they both have dis/advantages but that book will get you through absolutely anything you need. well, except crazy eastern european murderers who use hot chicks to lure you in...

A month in Thailand? For what? America has drugs and child sex slaves, too.

umm, basically to lay around the beach, take a couple classes in buddhist meditation, buy cheap dvds and get a couple of suits made for next to nothing.and there's a much bigger child sex problem in cambodia and laos nowadays than in thailand. it's too crowded and touristy for that to go on as much anymore i guess
