if the writers strike screws this up, as the academy I'd tell everyone to go fuck themselves and not award anything.

tl;dr
1/22/2008 2:12:59 PM
damnno "King of Kong" in the documentary category
1/22/2008 3:59:39 PM
Juno?REALLY?
1/22/2008 4:09:34 PM
Into the Wild got screwed imo. I saw Michael Clayton and thought it was a pretty decent movie, but it should no way have gotten that many nominations in all those categories.
1/22/2008 4:18:40 PM
Comments:Strange to see no Best Foreign Language Film for "Diving Bell And The Butterfly" when it received four other nominations especially in Director, Cinematography, Editing, and Screenplay.I really really really liked Michael Clayton so I'm happy it got a decent amount of nominations considering it was released pretty early for an Oscar contender.
1/22/2008 4:54:14 PM
Norbit = 1 nominationZodiac = O nominationsWTF?
1/22/2008 5:24:03 PM
Here are some of the categories where I can actually tell a clear winner (for me, anyway):Performance by an actor in a supporting roleJavier Bardem in “No Country for Old Men”Best animated feature film of the year“Ratatouille” (Walt Disney) Brad BirdAchievement in cinematography“The Diving Bell and the Butterfly” (Miramax/Pathé Renn) Janusz KaminskiAchievement in music written for motion pictures (Original song)“Falling Slowly” from “Once”(Fox Searchlight)Music and Lyric by Glen Hansard and Marketa IrglovaBest motion picture of the year“No Country for Old Men” (Miramax and Paramount Vantage)A Scott Rudin/Mike Zoss ProductionScott Rudin, Ethan Coen and Joel Coen, ProducersOriginal screenplay“Lars and the Real Girl” (MGM)Written by Nancy Oliver

At least someone knows how Susan Lucci felt. ]
1/23/2008 3:47:20 PM
i actually wouldn't be surprised if juno won best screenplay, the screenwriter's story being so unique and all.
1/23/2008 3:48:18 PM
WALK HARD DIDNT GET ONE NOMINATION??????THATS BULLSHIT
1/23/2008 3:55:00 PM
^^ I was thinking that if Persepolis gets best animated just for being different, they might throw Brad Bird a bone with screenplay.
1/23/2008 4:00:30 PM
I really wouldn't be surprised if Atonement beat out No Country for Old Men for best picture. The Academy eats that romantic stuff up. Shakesphere in Love beat Saving Private Ryan, Titanic beat LA Confidential, English Patient beat Fargo. No Country is an amazing movie and it'll be a shame if it doesn't get Best Pic.

First Oscar was just handed out:http://www.theonion.com/content/news/cgi_team_creates_realistic_oscar
2/20/2008 9:05:58 AM
i think Gone, Baby Gone deserved a little more recognition
2/20/2008 9:13:07 AM
No doubt. I would have replaced Atonement with Gone Baby Gone. I would also think that the best supporting actress role is between Ryan and Blanchett
2/20/2008 9:39:46 AM
on all things considered yesterday, they interviewed the two dudes who work for price waterhouse cooper who hand count the ballots every year.they also deliver the winner envelopes via briefcase to the show, and hand off the winning envelopes to the presenter as they go on stage.apparently it's all completed the night before, and one of the guys was talking about how they were the only two who knew the results.. he'd sit sunday morning with the paper, look at the predictions, drink some coffee and snicker.sounds like one of the coolest jobs ever.
2/20/2008 9:41:33 AM
We're playing this tonight at Galaxy Cinema. Admission is free, so if you wanna see dat 190% Oscar drank in HD on the big screen, come on out tonight around 7 or 8 and check it out. We're gonna be sending out a big order for pizzas at about 8:15, so if you want dinner and get here before then you can get one for 7 or 8 bucks. Anyways, come on out doodz.

2/24/2008 1:22:43 PM
Oh, btw, we just decided we're giving out prizes at the Galaxy thing tonight. At least 5 gift certificates, but I'll give out more if more than 50 or so people show up (we've already given out about 100 tickets, but I doubt everybody who got one is coming).Plus we got wine 'n' cheese and these awesome bagel chips. And two dolla PBRs. So, basically, you should probably come out. Did I mention the tickets are free?

2/24/2008 8:47:18 PM

2/24/2008 8:53:12 PM

2/24/2008 9:00:45 PM
stewart needs to cut loose and have fun
2/24/2008 9:01:10 PM
hey, I love Stewart in his element. But a silent monologue to start the oscars really sucks. Crystal used to know how to do the Oscars right.
