I saw about a year or so ago that there was a posting where you could get a pretty decent amount of money for doing some clinical tests with AAI or AAC (or something similar) in Chapel Hill where they were testing the effectiveness of generic drugs.I was wondering if anyone knew the website or if they were still doing the study.

they're ongoing and you have to be on their email list
1/22/2008 8:56:38 AM
yeah and it takes like a friggin year to get on that mailing listbut once you get on it, oh do the emails start rolling in...now that i quit cigs i'm gonna start doing themCHA CHING[Edited on January 22, 2008 at 9:04 AM. Reason : actually havent gotten one since jan 3...and it was for post menopausal females]
1/22/2008 9:02:40 AM
i'm on the mailing list, but they've never called me so i don't know the info off the top of my head--i'll try to find it a bit later if no one answers before then

i deleted 210 previous emails from them just now so i can know when i get a new one(created a gmail folder for them)...hope i get one soon...you cant have smoked cigs regularly for 30 days, at least thats what mine say...sometimes they require that you cant have taken other prescriptions for like the previous 2 weeks

1/22/2008 9:19:47 AM
dang. $4000
1/22/2008 9:20:10 AM
UNC is constantly doing them through the med school/dental school.
1/22/2008 9:20:31 AM
damn usually they are 2 confinement periods...i cant do 4 with be being a full time student
1/22/2008 9:30:25 AM
that's actually a really good onemost of them dont have that few outpatient visits and they confine you for longer periods of time at that cost/price
1/22/2008 9:31:35 AM
I got emails for that and stuff but I was never able to do any of them due to scheduling conflicts. But yeah they apparently pay you pretty well for some of them.
1/22/2008 10:18:02 AM
I don't know if $4k is enough to justify this:
1/22/2008 10:21:13 AM
^huhits not hard to stop those for a month or 2. unless you're a crackhead
1/22/2008 10:22:51 AM
^^lol, I'm already qualified for all of that. Where do I sign up? [Edited on January 22, 2008 at 10:23 AM. Reason : .]
1/22/2008 10:22:57 AM
you people are idiots

1/22/2008 11:57:41 AM
im betting this one has a drug where they have limited or no knowledge of side effects, as it pays so much for such relatively short amount of timethough those 52 blood draws add up quickly, especially when you get a newer nurse from them
1/22/2008 12:30:22 PM
1/22/2008 12:33:19 PM
oh they explain the drugs to you in detail from what ive heard.thats why lots of people end up not doing their study because they goto the meeting and they tell you the side effects. and unless you are strapped for cash, you will drop out. this is something decent or a college kid. i know a few people that have gone through college with doing these studies, not paying all the tuition and stuff, but surviving without complaint. some of the medication is FDA approved, whatever..most of it isnt.but yeah like you said, lab rats
1/22/2008 12:45:13 PM
^thats pretty much iteveryone but 1 or 2 people ive been in a trial with is either a college student, saving for college, or just graduated
1/22/2008 12:48:28 PM
I did studies at AAI for three years. The money was awesome. The best one I did was for a muscle relaxer *thumbs up*They are located in Morrisville now.
1/22/2008 1:58:25 PM
i did them when i was between jobs waiting to move...did three all together i thinkthey "say" that all the drugs they test are just generic versions of the name brand versions and that they are simply testing absorption rate changes between the two if any...i dont know if that's true, but that's what they say...most of the time the drugs i did within the trials were fairly innocuous if they did or were what the people said they were
1/22/2008 3:41:13 PM
i guess i cant knock it cause they gotta test it on humans somehowi just took offense to the term crackhead being used to describe people who wouldnt give up their otc meds and coffee as opposed to the people who sell their bodies to the vampires

bttt
1/31/2008 10:26:04 AM
Forgive my ignorance, but do they not tell you what the study is for? I don't see what they'd be testing the subject for (or not testing, if they're a control).
2/2/2008 3:29:15 PM
they tell you once you pass the screening or are invited, i forget which
2/2/2008 6:07:08 PM
My uncle has done similar stuff for Scintipharma, a company in Kentucky. The money has been pretty damn good and he helps manage some of the experiments now. I'd be really interested in this if I could get on the mailing list.

3/27/2008 10:47:23 AM
if you're going to do one, hold out another week or 2 for one worthwhile, aai has been sending out emails for a month or 2 with 3-4k trials
3/27/2008 11:43:20 AM
3/27/2008 11:56:51 AM
you'd have a shitty imagination then!
3/27/2008 3:44:14 PM
^^
3/27/2008 4:15:00 PM
Why would that be unreasonable if you're going to do a bunch of blood draws on a given day or two? I know they wouldn't do it over a long period of time because of infection, but why not over a very short period of time?
3/27/2008 6:56:34 PM
^b/c giving small blood draws 8 times over a 14 hr span isnt that bad and only takes a couple mins each blood drawalso, i told you guys not to bother with that $900 study a few posts above b/c they have been sending out emails for much larger payments recently, and heres one:
3/28/2008 8:41:39 PM
so WTF is a confinement period?meaning I could potentially stay in the lab for a week?
3/28/2008 9:20:58 PM
the only problem with the more expensive ones is that you'll stay there longer.thats 3 different 6 days stays. thats like 3 weeks.the cheaper ones are just a few days total.if you've got the time, then yea go for the $$$ ones.
3/28/2008 9:36:08 PM
Fuck. I have a real job.I was just hoping for extra cash money on the side.God damn it.
3/28/2008 9:53:18 PM
A lot of them are just on weekends.. get on their mailing list and eventually you'll find one where you just stay like two saturday nights or something and get a grand or two... pretty easy. I've done several
3/28/2008 10:30:01 PM
yeh, but the longer ones aren't bad come summer, unless you have a real job or have to do summer classes
