no matter what no mattter who the coach is ad. no matter who we are playing or what sport we are always ncstate. why is this?it was funny we used to say "o well this isn't ncstate anymore herb/chuck is gone" but its still the same. completely different coaches and its always the same. ups and downs. wtfs. cardiac miracles. what critics? ice? giving the business? 4 games or less? hungry we eat? fucking winner? no matter what. every season we always have points in the season where we think we are the best and points where we think we are the worst. what causes us to stay ncstate?

not because they're that great. it's just that everyone else is a bunch of faggots.oh, and state hasn't really been state since valvano. sid has potential at being a bit of a legacy though imo.

anything thats guaranteed always turns out the opposite.

It's a Wolfpack thing...you wouldn't understand.
1/21/2008 7:55:19 AM
Probably because that's the name on our uniforms.
1/21/2008 11:35:01 AM

b/c we are hung up on weird "gimmicks" and 25 year old national championshipswe keep living in the past, b/c that's all we have..and by gimmicks i mean white glasses, red shoes, and most recently red coatslet's just put products on the field and court and quit relying on gimmicks and esteemed past.it's great to remember the national championships, but everytime i look there is a new movie or book about it. i mean c'mon.

The red coat is not a gimmick, it's a tribute from a player to a coach; it isn't even in the same ballpark as Amato's flashiness. Every school has ups and downs like us.
1/21/2008 12:08:23 PM
in my opinion, the red coat became a gimmick when they made t-shirts that said "fear the blazer" and look like a blazer...it lost all nostalgic/traditional value and became commercialized
1/21/2008 12:16:23 PM
hence the quote "thats some ncstate shit right there"
1/21/2008 12:22:50 PM
i dont know of any school that has as bizzarre ups and downs as us. maybe i should have explained it clearer. im not sure when it started but it seems like every since herb and chuck came its been like this. the whole ncstate shit i mean.

90% of major athletic schools(D1 bcs conference type schools) are like us. They have good times, and bad times, generally finish in the middle and occasionally something good happens. Then there are like the 7% of schools that always suck, and 3% that are always doing great sport things. The problem is people don't sit back and just enjoy the good things that happen here, people always expect something even better to come next, and it won't.

remember folks. as soon as we lose all hope....BIG SHIT HAPPENS

the problem is that we were once great and people constantly remind us of that. We know things used to be different (or at least those of us who actually know state's history) and we want to return to that. We are state because it seems that every single year we are on the brink of returning to the elite, only to lose senseless games in rediculous ways that shouldnt happen. It's like when Rivers was here a few years ago, even the national media regarded us as being on the brink of become a national power and then we crumbled. Since Jimmy V left and Les took over we havent been the same.My dad went to state in the mid 70's when not only did we win the NCAA championship in basketball, but we were in the upper echelon in almost every sport (think UNC currently). So I grew up hearing about the glory days and how before coach K made duke Duke it was nothing but State vs. Carolina around here. The old timers and us younger ones who are optimistic know that we could be on the verge of returning to something great and we should be there, and so it's that much more difficult when we slip and fall short everytime.

We have a hard time looking at things realistically. Lowe isn’t even running an offense he wants. This can never be underemphasizedYou people

We were 'State College' at that point IIRCI don't think we became NC State until the 1920's or so...?
2/15/2008 10:39:04 AM
wikipedia doesn't mention it, so its not true http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Carolina_State_Universitysounds like it was initially "North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts"then state college
2/15/2008 10:44:54 AM
we definitely used to be State College at some point
2/15/2008 10:46:28 AM
last night the announcer kept referring to us as "north carolina state" which i really like the sound of over ncstate.
