I'm pretty sure I got suspended from Sports Talk for something I said last week and I'm pretty sure that I was meant to have a week-long suspension for it, but I don't know for sure. If someone gets suspended for something they should get an email saying why and what they did wrong. I'm fairly certain I know what I did but I'm not 100%. If I actually got suspended and not locked out of my account for some random error I would like to know about it and how long I'm going to be locked out for. I wasn't completely sure and I had several matters about buying books that were not able to be taken care of last week because of the suspension. I would just like to be informed if I am actually suspended or not and why and not get straight locked out of my account. Also, getting locked out of the forum for which you cause the offense and not the entire site would be a better approach if you won't inform people of what offense they incurred. I honestly don't know 100% why I wasn't allowed to login for a week, but I have a suspicion. Either an email should be sent explaining why a user was suspended or a user should only be suspended from the particular forum he infringed upon. Like I said, I had to wait a week to log back into my account to get a book I needed last week. This is my main concern. People conduct business on this site and when they don't know why or for what they can't log in to their accounts it is extremely frustrating. Please work on the site to allow the moderators a little bit more cooperation with the users so that the users are more informed of any misdeeds. Any offense that is committed and then not explained is bound to be committed again.

If you really needed the book that bad, you should have either gotten on a friends account and PMed the person you were buying the book from, or just paid $5 and made another account and contacted them with that.

you know what was funny?when CrazyJ took my html away twice without a warning you know why it's funny?lolololol, because he had a part in MAKING the guidelines about suspensions/warnings/etc....and then he didn't even follow them. kekekekekekekeke

Lay off the racist comments in Sports Talk and you should be good to go.
1/21/2008 2:16:08 AM
Well there's so many racist comments everywhere else that it's hard to know where it's allowed or not. I'm pretty sure that's the first time I've posted in Sports Talk and I'm not gonna spend all my time reading the guidelines for posting in each individual forum. But would it seriously be that difficult to implement a form for when a moderator suspends someone to explain to that person what they did? I don't appreciate being locked out of my account without an explanation for a week and not having any one of my 3 contact form things replied to over the course of a week. I probably wouldn't have been able to log in to my account for even longer if I hadn't sent another one. It's just so frustrating to get blocked out of your account for something you might not be sure of what you did for a time period that you are not sure how long it will last. It also seems like the mods like to go on power trips so I'm sure every suspension is not as clear cut as mine was. I believe people would just like a little more communication from the mods because there seem to be a large number of people pissed off at this exact situation.

Stoned, you bring up a good point, but there is one thingI DONT USE THE EMAIL THAT I REGISTERED ANYMORE, I REQUESTED A CHANGE, AND SO DID A COUPLE OTHER PEOPLE.but i like your idea
1/21/2008 8:53:52 AM
amazingly enough the people that don't go out of their way to be fuckups don't have this problem
1/21/2008 9:01:47 AM
Well I'm referring more to the fact that I filled out the contact form 3 times with the email address I use each time asking them for:1) Why I got suspended.2) How long I should expect to be suspended for.I think neither one of these was unreasonable. I told them my username. I never got a reply back 1 time over the course of a week. It was only after the 3rd time and a week had gone by that I got unsuspended. I don't think anyone cares when people legitimately get suspended, but it really seems like this beardawg character is pissing all over everybody just because he can.
1/21/2008 9:02:45 AM
I, too, would like to know why no warning or explanation was given for suspension. According to posting rules, I don't see how I did anything warranting suspension (especially a considerably longer suspension than others suspended due to the Sports Talk / Garage fiasco). An explanation of some sort would be greatly appreciated.
1/23/2008 7:09:35 PM
in general the mod that suspends the user is the one to unsuspend themin your ^ case i think it was just a matter of the mod forgot - you know what you did though and it didn't warrant any sort of warning...sometimes if you act like an idiot then you get treated like an idiot
1/23/2008 8:52:18 PM
^There were three different mods who suspended ppl that night which is why there were differences in the length of the suspensions.]]
1/23/2008 8:56:03 PM
same here. i wasn't suspended for nearly as long as she was, but i made two valid comments in two sports talk threads- didn't even make an actual thread in sports talk- yet i get suspended. you can't punish us for who we're associated with.
1/23/2008 10:09:32 PM
you can tell their alias what they did wrong after you suspend them.
1/23/2008 11:05:01 PM
There should be a wall of shame section detailing all suspensions as well as providing a section for meta-suspension discourse so it gets the fuck out of the feedback forum.

^^ it doesn't matter. i'm in the same boat as her. i didn't even make a thread, i made two legitimate posts in threads that later got deleted, but i was also suspended. everyone who posts in sports talk had a "first time" at some point. just because we happened to pick that day doesn't mean you can jump to the conclusion that we were involved in the "overrun sports talk" shenanigan. that's a pretty big assumption.
1/24/2008 1:26:19 PM
garage people really tried to "overrun" sports talk? are they 12?[Edited on January 24, 2008 at 1:36 PM. Reason : f]
1/24/2008 1:29:01 PM
ok, where the hell is my "jump to conclusion" mat so the mods can use it.
1/24/2008 1:34:21 PM
Even if I were contributing to the 'overrun sports talk' effort, that should not change the way in which suspensions are handled. /thread[Edited on January 24, 2008 at 1:45 PM. Reason : ]

1/24/2008 2:17:13 PM
i'm amazed some people are still trying this whole feel sorry for me because i knew i was fucking around and it am pretending i had no idea what i was doing would cause me to be suspended keep it up if it makes you feel better inside but nothing is being accomplished other than that
1/24/2008 4:48:22 PM
ncsukat for wolfweb mod?
1/24/2008 4:59:06 PM
^heh... that's funny. For the record, I'm not pretending I didn't post in Sports Talk along with other members of the Garage. I am also not saying what I did was not out of place. I am saying someone needs to follow some GD protocol.SUSPENSIONS SHOULD BE DONE SYSTEMATICALLY, NOT ON THE WHIM OF AN ANONYMOUS MODERATOR.According to the account abuse guidelines, a first offense receives a warning. I received no such warning. Hence, protocol was not followed and I was unnecessarily suspended.
1/24/2008 5:30:05 PM
i'm sincerely sorry that you are unaware of the suspension policy
1/24/2008 5:36:16 PM
Then why is it in place??? I've witnessed & read stories of people having a legitimate reason for being suspended and being warned for their behavior. Honestly, I'm not the one who started the thread... and it doesn't seem to have been a recurring problem until recently.[Edited on January 24, 2008 at 5:48 PM. Reason : ]

I agree that more users are whining/complaining now that someone is listening - it doesn't necessarily give any more warrant to the whining/complaining thoughthat text was put in place a long time ago by someone who isn't around anymore so I don't think you'll get an answer to your question...
1/24/2008 6:02:12 PM
Honestly, if you did something knowingly to fuck with another section you should have gotten suspended... even if it wasn't that bad.For fucks sake, I got suspended for no reason at all (the mod THOUGHT I was picbombing a thread in ST but I posted a picture that was relevant to the thread only once) and didn't bitch about it all.. the mod apologized to me too... Get over it.Don't be an immature fuckstick and you won't get suspended. Period.
1/24/2008 6:09:31 PM
What about people like myself, who got suspended for no reason, and wasn't even online during the stuff that I think I am getting accused for. There was no reason, no warning, no purpose, and no one who will step up and admit who suspended me.
1/24/2008 8:12:04 PM
1/24/2008 9:15:13 PM
I'll agree that the whole thing wasn't really handled evenly. I posted in a couple of the "overrun" threads knowing full well what they were, because I thought it was funny. I did not get suspended, maybe b/c I do sometime post in ST, maybe because I've been around forever and don't tend to cause trouble. And I'm not trying to stir the pot here--just agreeing that it wasn't handled evenly, and some changes to moderation would be a good thing. Like the title of this thread--explanations when someone does get suspended.
