I got 2 $25 gift cards there over the holidays, and I'm more than a wee bit short on cash, so I went to get stuff at Kmart that I normally would at Target. Primarily:- try to find a moisturizer- face scrub- face wash- some sort of shelf for my bathroom- mailing envelopes- chocolate mint milano cookies- some milk, so I didn't have to spend cash at the grocery storeThere were simply no facial care products at alla half gallon of skim was $3.59I gave up on everything but the envelopes

What would possess someone to give k-mart gift cards as a gift? The last time I checked $25 will get you a $25 gift card at just about anywhere.

The only thing I can think of is that my grandfather used credit card reward points to get gift cards for christmas, and target wasn't a merchant he could choose.[Edited on January 17, 2008 at 5:41 PM. Reason : aksd]

geez, that sucks.but yeah, as much as i hate walmart, that kmart near state needs to be a walmart instead.

That one on Western blows. It's about .2 miles from my house, so I can't help but go there on a fairly regular basis, but I hate every trip. They almost *never* have more that one register open, so I spend twice the time I actually shopped waiting in line However, I do like to buy my NCSU clothes there since it's cheaper than the bookstore.

1/17/2008 6:30:00 PM

1/17/2008 6:31:45 PM
fuck kmart
1/17/2008 6:46:14 PM
I remember my roommate used to go to the little caesars in the kmart on western and order 2 of their $5 pizzas each when we would get real hungry.
1/17/2008 6:48:42 PM
ha, the damn kmart on western doesn't have shit. They just need to put a damn walmart there and be done with it.

1/17/2008 7:06:03 PM
1/17/2008 7:08:41 PM
i thought the facial products were near like the rubbing alcohol and toothpaste and the feminine hygiene products
1/17/2008 7:12:44 PM
Where the hell is makeup, then?I went to the one in garner. It's still no target, but goddamn, it's a world of difference. You'd think for as ghetto as they are, though, they'd realize their prices need a reality check. $4.29 for the st ives that target has for $2.89? I mean, really

I am wearing Joe Boxer PJ's from KMart right now! I LOOOOOOOVE them! They are soooo comfy! My Mama went to get me another pair after I asked for another pair next time she was out that way - they were all on Clearance for $8.[Edited on January 17, 2008 at 10:50 PM. Reason : ]

cant you use those at sears too? Tools are something that you will always need, a hammer, screw drivers, etc... They have bedroom stuff too, pillows and all that jazz
1/17/2008 11:01:50 PM
Fuck if I know
1/17/2008 11:08:13 PM
I've worked at Sears pretty much since kmart bought 'em (er... lampert bought 'em with kmart's money), and I've never once been handed a kmart gift card. i really, honestly, have no idea if they're accepted. I don't think they are though. I remember once there was this push by corporate to get us to send people to kmart everytime someone asked for something that Sears didn't carry. They even got these little maps made showing how to get from crabtree to western. this plan failed miserably as everytime kmart got mentioned to a customer, they'd laugh/mention target/mention walmart/bitch about how much sears sucks now too XD[Edited on January 17, 2008 at 11:09 PM. should have sold it to giftcardbuyback.com....kmart is worth 76% of the value, rather have 76% then have to enter one of their stores.
1/17/2008 11:09:05 PM
what's funny is paying by gift card, the cashier at both kmarts were prompted by the register to ask me if I wanted to buy a kmart gift card
1/17/2008 11:09:23 PM
kmart is awesome

i worked at Kmart in Sanford in high school. back when they brought back the blue light special. this lady who worked there married a man who worked at wal-mart under the Blue Light, right by the detergent aisle.

In all honesty that entire block that K-Mart sits on should be demolished, to include the extra creepy Westover Towers. Has anyone actually been into that building or do you have to have a rock to get in?
1/18/2008 11:03:06 AM

it amazes me that they're still in businessi've been in 2 kmarts on 1 occasion each over the last 5 years and it was during the "rush" times that walmart and target are packedit was me and employeesoh and empty shelvesi think they're bodegas
1/18/2008 12:49:55 PM
K-mart supposedly owns the buildings and land that the vast majority of their stores are located at......I am assuming that is how they survive without selling anything. Maybe all of this was paid off during better times for them, and they can scrape by on a much smaller margin. I like most of you never see anyone in there actually shopping or buying anything. I mean if you go in walmart you see people spending hundreds of dollars and all of the shelves well merchandised. Usually at k-mart there are more workers then there are customers.
