A threat of a slight mix cancels classes for a couple hours, but for the past couple of years, measureable snow and ice keeps classes and campus running on time with accidents and slips. You know, we do have a friggen meteorology school here (I am a student of it). There is barely a chance of sleet tomorrow. This has been a rant by TWW Chief Meteorologist Stormbone865

So what will happen is it will do nothing but rain... then next time they wont preemptively cancel and it will end up snowing or freezing rain while everyone is already on campus and cause another armageddon.[Edited on January 16, 2008 at 6:43 PM. Reason : .]

http://wral.com/weather/closings/WRAL says you are delayed, so you know it's true. After all, no one can mess with a media source and provide false information

Nah, nah. Jamz0r is right. Starting to switch to a mix around the Triad, and it's about 36 around here. Snowing in Asheville, G'ville/Spartanburg, Columbia, North Georgia and East Tennessee. Looking like it will turn over a little earlier. Still not sure how long it will last once it does change over.

"The University is open under adverse weather status, but classes with a starting time earlier than 10 a.m. are cancelled. "so does this mean i can not go to my 10:15am class and still be under the adverse weather policy?

noits the brickseveryone that is a student at ncsu knows that the bricks (especially the white ones) get really slippery when it rainseven moreso when they are coated with a thin sheet of ice
1/17/2008 12:49:21 AM
do the buses run before 10, say to pick up people and get to their 10:15 class?
1/17/2008 12:51:27 AM
^ did we read the thread?
1/17/2008 12:52:10 AM
"its the bricks"bullshitthey could salt all the walkways tonight and everything would be fine tomorrow
north carolina has to be the hardest place to forecast in the winter for precipitation typeslight slight slight variations in the direction of the wind coming off the high pressure things can cause the cold air to be funneled in or out based on the mountainssomeone back me up here with the real words. i havent pursued meteorology since like 7th grade when i used to go visit greg fishel

^yea, i know, i'm usually not one to bitch/ try to get out of this sort of thing.in all honesty though, an accident or anything like that that would require me to pay some money is the last thing i need right now.edit: i'm just gunna see how it is. if it turns out to all be hooplah then i'll go, but if it actually is icy and shit around 10am, fuck it i'm not goin.[Edited on January 17, 2008 at 12:59 AM.
