It's a great place to vacation, but not very fun to live. It's expensive, and gets old fast.

^ are you trying to vacation, have a long weekend, or move there (to an east coast city)?

St. Patricks is a HUGE party.

The rest of the year all the tourists and horse carriages get in your way. You either gotta live in the city and pay out the ass, or in a trailer with an hour commute.

If they don't have a store you want your next option is to go to Charleston, Augusta, or Jacksonville.

I grew up near Hilton Head. Wouldn't go back because I like this area much more.

I have also been told that the Haunted Pub Crawl is good

I've been told that Savannah is full of hookers, too

and it is close to St. Simon's which is one of my favorite places in the world

Why do you want to move? Want's wrong with Raleigh, or wherever you live?

Yeah, it's pretty redneck outside the city.

Expect to get dirty looks if you ever tell someone you go to church less than twice a week. Also expect them to think it's odd if you are in your mid-twenties and have less than 3 kids.

Just broke up with the bf, no strings attached. Love the beach and think now would be a good time to experience that side of life. Have a friend that's going to move with me.

We just need ideas on a good place to live that'd be hella fun and not too expensive.

I've lived there and I still spend about half my time there. It's fun if you can make friends easily but there is nothing around for 50 miles in any direction of any importance, so be prepared to travel if you want to go anywhere. I'd look at midtown for a convenient and fun place to live. Anywhere between Gaston and 52nd St. is fairly affordable and nice if you take a weekend to look around and call numbers in windows.

Dance night at the Jinx, otherwise people enjoy Hangfire, personally I like a place called The Rail for drinks.

Get in good with some people your own age there, party hop, drink in the streets = profit

Well the crime I'm hearing kind of concerns me, and I don't want to spend all this money moving if it's a really shitty place to live.

I found a forum though so that's cool.

LOL, people talk about the crime, but it's not that bad IMO. People are such babies about things they have heard 3rd hand. Even people that live there that complain on Craigslist are usually older people or super conservative type. I think it gives the downtown character. My recommendation is to visit the place for a weekend and make your own call.

It's great downtown because it's perfect for riding bikes, you can drink outside, it's near the beach, lots of artsy people due to the local colleges (SCAD), and it's a beautiful place to live. If you don't enjoy adventure and making your own fun then you will probably dislike Savannah. If you like to be outside and experience something completely different from any place you've ever lived I'd highly recommend it. Not the most metropolitan area ever but you have your basics.

Word.

So I'm wondering how much I'll be making. I'm reading that the job market sucks and people get paid a lot less in Savannah.

I want to know what someone making $8/hr with 0 tax exemptions will see on their paycheck every two weeks. That'd be awesome to know.
