any good waterproof mp3 players or FM earbuds or something?

I was thinking I could use the FM headphones to receive music from an Ipod with FM transmitter in a bag poolside

what do you think TWW?

It gets the job done, however, I would suggest getting earbuds that have a harness or something to keep them in your ears. If you flipturn or pick up the pace to something very fast, my earbuds sometimes get loose and fall out.

I've also seen water proof cases for ipods and you just buy waterproof earbuds, but I would never trust that.

I'd really prefer a cheap waterproof FM radio that maybe I can clip to my goggles

those waterproof earphones look really nice... I'll probably have to get some

I'm just dubious about putting my ipod in the pool, case or no case (especially in the case of no case)

I have a lot of silicone sealant

would it be possible to buy a cheap clip on FM radio and fill the housing with sealant?

would that interfere with reception?
are there any parts in your typical FM radio that would get too hot enclosed in silicone?

You could dip it in hot wax a couple of times so seal it.

if you can pick up radio stations inside the pool, I'm fairly sure that some silicone or wax wont hurt it.

I have a few bars of paraffin around here somewhere too

maybe I'll hot wax the circuit board and silicone the edges of the case

wait how would I waterproof the volume and tuning potentiometers?

the physical movement would probably break the seal of wax and silicone would likely just glue it in place

I guess if I preset the station and volume I could just seal it in place

the key is I don't want to take my ipod into the pool

I'll put it in a ziploc bag outside of the pool and set a playlist going

but I'd love a cheap, small waterproof FM radio

you wouldn't be able to hear it if you are lap swimming
the water really muffles everything

unless you had underwater speakers that would vibrate the pool

the coolest thing I've encountered while researching this is an mp3 player that plays via bone conduction

I found it for like $179.99 but without headphones

yeah it is spensive

I think I can put the silicone on some cheap ear bud headphones and make a waterproof seal for the plug
that could save me a touch of money

and I want to try waterproofing a super cheap FM radio

oh yeah the super cheap mp3 players are an option

but I have a 6 gig Ipod mini with an FM transmitter

I want to spend like NO money on a little FM radio and not even worry about putting the mp3 player in the pool

they have a 256 meg version and a 512 meg version, she even got hers wet inside the cannister and it still works after it dried out. she uses it all the time.
