im not trying to be sarcastic or a douche or anything

but i wonder how hard/successful it would be to go buy some dough and cheese and garlic sauce stuff to make your own pokey-like sticks

aha gumby's is closed?

the things i miss not being at state or a tww dork.

^oh, and i agree. they sell the freakin breadsticks you can just unthaw/open up and stick in the oven. add granulated garlic (or garlic salt) and lots of cheese and there you go.

I imagine it would be pretty difficult to get the right texture, I mean yeah everybody knows whats in them but i doubt I could get the technique close enough.

kinda like I know the exact recipe my mom uses to make the family bbq sauce but I can't even get close to it no matter how I try

yea it would be hard to duplicate but maybe the result would be just as good, but different

I briefly worked at gumbys ten years ago

the dough is made from water, bread flour, canola/soybean oil, salt and yeast

the cheese is part-skim mozz

and they brush the dough with garlic "butter" (hydrogenated veg oil)

knock yourself out

I'm currently undertaking the task of attempting to replicate the pokey stix, the dough is made and I'm waiting for it to rise need to go pick up the mozzarella and make the garlic butter

Thanks for the input 392, plus I'm working off of one thing I found online

http://www.kerner.net/archives/recipes/calzones_pokey.html

Quote :
"
Pokey Stix

2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp butter, melted
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp ground oregeno
1/4 tsp onion powder
mozzarella cheese
parmesan cheese (fresh grated is best)
pizza crust

Combine all ingredients except for the cheeses and the crust. Prepare your pizza crust on a pan or a peel (the pan works best for these though). Brush liberally with the melted butter/oil. Top generously with cheeses (Gumby's is skimpy on the cheese, but they're better with more cheese). Bake. Okay, so it's not much of a recipe, but they are pretty good cheese breadsticks.

Thanks!
