about half an hour after I eat dinner. Happens every single day of the week, and I wake up thirty minutes later feeling really thirsty. Any ideas why? Google didn't come back with much.

No..I'm not fat at all now, although I used to be a little heavy a couple of years of ago. I don't eat any more at dinner than I do at breakfast, and it never happens after breakfast. What's the deal?

Is this really a problem?
1/11/2008 9:17:34 PM
yeah, it's kind of a problem. I have things I'd rather be doing during that time, but it's like I don't have a choice and sleep just takes over.

after you eat just stand up... its hard to sleep that way

Wilford Brimley thinks you have diabetes. No seriously though I get that and it's because my blood sugar skyrockets after a large meal. I get dehydrated afterwards as well and have to take a piss. It's my body's way of getting rid of excess blood sugar when my blood sugar spikes (insulin doesn't take effect immediately so my sugars will spike bad which makes me sleepy and causes the peeing and such).I would say cut back on dinner meals, eat more foods that have low carbs (throw in more veggies like onions and broccoli and beans and peppers and such). If you eat large dinners that already don't have that many carbs, just cut back on the meals. If this happens after you eat carb-heavy food and you're concerned about your body's response to sugar you can ask a doctor about it and see what they think. They can screen you for diabetes or other metabolic issues...

thanks for the replies . . . I'll check out the diabetes angle just to be safe. The only other info I can think of that might affect this is that I always eat dinner right after working out, so my stomach should be really empty then. Maybe that's what causes the blood sugar to jump so much.
