Steel has nickel in it, and it's heavier. Not as good for piercings.

There is a quality factor. sterility is very important, how they store the jewelry (even if it's autoclaved, if there's lots of dead bacteria on it that can cause a reaction), and WHAT the needle goes through.

If they clamp it wrong and the needle goes through the wrong stuff it'll be uncomfortable and take longer to heal.

my favorite piercing was my eyebrow. When I was a freshman I had my eyebrow, tongue and nipples done. belly button is trailer trash....tongue is too. nips were the most painless. eyebrow was the most painful- but I think it cost like $35 with jewelry. Be sure to go to Warlocks. Skip USED to work there years ago- doubt he's there anymore.

a belly button piercing is fairly common and something that should be able to be done safely and nicely at most places(and i will say though, there are some fucked up places)

this is coming from someone who (since 18) has had about three facial piercings and about 6 other ones that are not facial, (although i dont wear all of them all the time it's more fun that way lol) and at this point, i know exactly how my body will react to any piercing...

but i agree with ambrosia1231 completely

go to a reputable place....
it will be completely worth it.
