Has anyone been able to use a class which wasn't in the degree audit category (for a GER) and count as one anyways? I've heard of people getting history courses to count as foreign languages, but what about getting 2 histories to count in separate categories (CHASS requirement) for say World and US?

It just depends on who you talk to. Some advisors/departments will let you get by with things others won't. I've tried to get classes to count for GERs and was told they don't allow it, but then I will talk to people I graduated with and they were allowed to.

It all come down to what you can get the undergraduate curriculum coordinator in your department to sign off on. Get your adviser's blessing and then make your case to them as to why class X should count for requirement Y. It all come down to rather or not they're willing to sign off on it.
