Are there any good allergists in the area? I don't need a diagnosis or regular visit, I basically will just need them to verify my existing allergy problems and sign off to renew my old prescription from my doctor back where I lived before.Of course, a nice and competent doctor would be nice.

You tried student health?I have not tried the one here, but the one at UNC refilled the script from my allergist no problem.I am afraid because the one here looks like it's mostly nurses and not a lot of docs.

I'm not a student anymore.

^^Student Health at NCSU does have MDs on staff...

Okay. Is it really anything exotic enough that a GP wouldn't fill the script? The one I went to is at UNC so that probably won't help you.

I don't guess so. I don't have any doctors in the area yet since this is the first time I've lived in Raleigh and not had access to SH.

It's about a month wait to get an appt with an allergist in my experience, so that's why I suggested a GP if you need a script filled.Wish I could help.

^^ thanks for the suggestion, i'll check it out.^ yea, they're slow to act usually. thanks for the advice though, i guess i'll try to find a family doctor around here first and maybe they'll throw me my medicine since it's nothing hardcore, i just need the stuff before spring comes around or everyone will think i'm stoned every day.

Yeah, I'd try the GP since if you have a % co-pay with your insurance they are less expensive and in my experience. Might not matter to you but I generally try to find a DO as my GP since they seem to be a little more open minded about supplements and such.

what is a DO?
1/9/2008 2:55:15 PM
DO = doctor of osteopathy. They have the same training as a MD, plus extra courses on nutrition and stuff that keeps you healthy as well as the traditional MD's crisis management approach.

A friend of mine used to work as a PA for Carolina Allergy and Asthma. I think they have a good reputation. Dr. Aarons there seemed like a nice guy.
