While I was installing the PSU heatsink the heatsink for the northbridge popped loose. You can move it around easily.

How do you re-set the heatsink? Pushing on those 2 pins hasn't yielded anything yet.

Everything I've read so far points tor RMA.

On a small attempt to salvage this...

It looks like the pins used to hold down the northbridge are still holding it in place like it should. Perhaps the thermal seal broke and it would be ok with a reapply?

the actual chip or the heatsink. Would be silly if it was the chip...

Can you take pictures of the actual heatsink? Most of the time, they are bonded by the thermal tape. You can clean them off and get some new thermal tape to reattach it on. I don't think thermal paste will work, maybe if you allow it to harden (usually 100 hours of burn in). Not to sure about the pins, would have to see it from a different angle to get an idea of what they are doing.

The pins were firmly attached. I believe that springs are used in conjunction with the pins to keep the heatsink against the actual chip. In this case the bond the tape formed between the heatsink and chip had separated.

I used this shit once to attach a heatsink to a motherboard chip. It's pretty strong stuff, I could pick up the whole motherboard by the heatsink and it wouldn't budge.

Everything in the case is running sub 25C according to hwinfo32 except:
ITE IT8718F - Temperature 1, which is 45C. I assume this is the northbridge? The temps seem really, really low. I'm pretty sure the meters are inaccurate.
