is there a way they can come quicker? dont really want to wait 2 weeks for wireless.

can i call and tell them something "special" that will get them here quicker.

we havnt had the best of terms with TW, they sent out some creep and my GF complained and we got 6 months free cable. so its not like we at the top of their list.

By "some creep" do you mean just a skeevy looking guy, or did he do/say something inappropriate?

theres a reason for the bulletproof glass partitions at the office, sometimes you just feel the need to choke a bitch

i don't believe that they activate the internet part at your house if you already have cable, so i don't see why they wouldn't....other than them being incompentant jerks

sometimes they allow that

i believe they always allow that so long as they don't have to make any hard connections at the residence

i did it recently, the house was already equipped with basic cable

the key is to get the contractor's phone # whenever he comes out (if he's a creep, this may not be a good idea)

then, when you need service, call him directly, and he'll be out a hell of a lot quicker. They'll get paid more by helping you so they should be willing to do it. Thats why i have "Doug TWC" programmed into my phone

the only way you can self install is if you already have cable

otherwise they have to send a tech out to make sure the signals are fine, run new lines if necessary, etc.

well my GF was home when the cable guy came.

took 2 hours to get the job done. kept looking at her and stuff. she just felt uncomfortable.

so TWC called to see how everything went and she asked them how long it should take, they said it should never have taken 2 hours, not even on the hardest job. (these are new townhouses, wired and everything). they said they were sorry and gave her 6 months free.

i answered my own Q with live chat.

Joel(Tue Jan 08 2008 13:13:31 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time))>

Hello my name is Joel, how can I help you?

Aa (Tue Jan 08 2008 13:15:45 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time))>

Hi, i have a few Questions

Aa (Tue Jan 08 2008 13:16:07 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time))>

my first one is that our cable box (HD box) has been acting up. and i was told i could bring it into the office to swap it out.

Aa (Tue Jan 08 2008 13:16:42 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time))>

and my second one is that we want to get TWC cable internet. But our wait time is 2 weeks and we need internet as soon as we can for work.

Aa (Tue Jan 08 2008 13:16:55 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time))>

Is there a way i can come in and get the hardware and hook it up myself instead of waiting.

Joel(Tue Jan 08 2008 13:15:50 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time))>

ok, as far as the 2nd question, you can pick up a cable modem at any local office

Aa (Tue Jan 08 2008 13:18:13 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time))>

great. is that all i would need?

Joel(Tue Jan 08 2008 13:16:10 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time))>

as long as you have an active cable outlet near the computer, it should work

Aa (Tue Jan 08 2008 13:18:24 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time))>

very nice.

Joel(Tue Jan 08 2008 13:16:39 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time))>

if that outlet does not have a strong enough signal, then we could setup a service call, but most of the time, it should work on its own

Joel(Tue Jan 08 2008 13:16:47 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time))>

they will give you all the cords needed

Aa (Tue Jan 08 2008 13:19:08 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time))>

sounds good.

Joel(Tue Jan 08 2008 13:17:04 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time))>

did you have just 1 computer?

Aa (Tue Jan 08 2008 13:19:31 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time))>

we have 2 laptops. we are going to setup for wireless, i already have the router

Joel(Tue Jan 08 2008 13:17:56 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time))>

oh, ok, so that should work out ok, just make sure you get an ethernet cord at the office when you pick up the modem

Joel(Tue Jan 08 2008 13:18:09 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time))>

they will provide that for you as well

Aa (Tue Jan 08 2008 13:20:23 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time))>

sounds good.

TWC in SC tried to tell me I couldn't put in my own wireless router without paying them an extra $5 or $10 a month for them LETTING me do that. I told them I had changed my mind then and would leave it wired.. hooked up wireless, works fine. Bastards.
