My dad is going to be out of the country for potentially a year. My mom does not have a driver's license. My little brother who is 15 has a driver's permit and get's his full license (before 9pm) in June after he turns 16.I know he can drive while my dad is a passenger. And now he can drive with me as a passenger. Is there any way he can drive with my mom as a passenger? Just in case my mom gets sick and needs to go the hospital, needs to go to a doctors office, needs to get groceries, needs to go to the mall? Just because I won't always be there to take her out places. My mom is a foreign mom. She's never driven a car really and doesn't speak much English, so getting her own license is out of the question. Thanks!

doesn't look like it (certainly makes sense that with his permit he should be driving with someone who has a license)http://www.dmv.org/nc-north-carolina/drivers-permits.php

if your mom needs to go to the hospital or has some other emergency she should call 911 and get an ambulancethat's what we're here foryour little brother can't legally drive for any reason whatsoever without a qualified supervising driver. end of story.

Bend the rules. At this very moment, there are thousands of 14-year-olds driving their alcoholic parents home from the bars, and in some instances, they actually have special permission from their respective law enforcement departments to do so.Drive safely. Don't speed. Your younger brother should be fine.

I mean you could probably play dumb with this and get away with it. If your mom looks old I don't think the cops are gonna mess with your bro if he is driving her around, even if they get stopped. I never got pulled over once while driving with a permit or a limited license. Even if he hits a license checkpoint, they will probably waive him through upon seeing your mom sitting there. I guess its more of a question of whether he wants to live his life harping on technicalities or follow all the rules and not live as much. Technically he could get a ticket, but odds are he wont. If he does (assuming he did not hit and mame/kill someone first) odds are they will let it go since its kind of a hardship case and a minor technicality.
