Can anyone imagine kids being given something this small today? Seriously, Micro Machines were a lawsuit waiting to happen.

I had the Micro Machines battery. Also the military HQ of some sort.

I collected more of the tanks and aircraft though. The cars got boring after awhile.

every christmas break when i was a kid, i'd setup a huge city of hotweels, legos, and micro machines on the Dining room table and play with them for weeks.

i'd have the civilian side be hotwheels and legos... then on the outskirts i'd setup bases with my micro machines

I think mine are mingling with a tub of legos. I think I'll go find that tub.

Mine are up in the attic of my parents' house, safe and sound. I had a whole bunch, with the "big" town that came in the toolbox.

I was cleaning some junk out of the closet in my old room when I was home for break, and upon discovering a duffel bag full of legos, I was totally building stuff for the next hour or so. Combine that with the fact that I've bought a bunch of old matchbox off ebay recently (I still have all my old ones from childhood and am trying to add some old made in England models to the collection)...sometimes I'm a 27 year old child, I think.

Matchbox sucked, they could never keep the scales right.

They were better than Hot Wheels, though. For the most part. They're about the same nowadays though (the last good Matchbox, IMO, were the late 80's/early 90's "universal era" models).

But yeah, it is a bit odd to have two cars and a truck sitting next to each other that are all the same size despite being drastically different in their real-life versions.

The Micro Machines NES game was a ball. It was seriously one of the best NES games ever. On par and possibly better than RC Pro Am. If I remember correctly it was released after the Super Nintendo had already been out for a while and the NES was pretty much done so they didn't sell very many copies. If you find a copy and have access to an NES I highly recommend trying it out.
