The only reason I don't own a Sony Camera is because I don't want to invest in their proprietary memory, when I already have plenty of SD and compactflash for other devices.

The price has finally came down drastically though at least. Although, I agree with you and it's been a reason for me not purchasing one as well.

yeah but i love their cameras

everything has its price. i much prefer the sony point & shoot cameras to pretty much everything else. flash memory can be had for so cheap now i don't mind paying a little extra to be much happier with the camera.

yeah, if it were that substantial of a difference, i wouldn't mind, but I'd argue that the sony P&S cameras are only marginally better than the comparable Canons.

that looks like a very tiny camera. very nice.

I paid $260 for the camera and $40 for a 4GB memory stick. The price on the memory stick was inconsequential enough. It shoots fantastic pictures, even on the move (shot some from my car in downtown raleigh going ~25mph) no motion blur. It has nice settings for advanced users, custom aperture speeds, iso settings for lighting, etc... lots of features packed into the price... even has a face recognition as to not overexpose faces.I would recommend (and so would consumer reports).

I got the Sony DSC T-100 for Christmas with a 4gb card. Its amazing and exactly what i wanted. Ultra compact, 8mp, takes excellent pictures, and AMAZING pictures in low-light compared to any non-sly.Also takes dvd quality video and audio.

my olympus 790 is way better.because its orangeand waterproof.other then that, i don't know much about it.
1/3/2008 9:11:42 PM
^that olympus is a fantastic camera.i forget, does it only take xd cards? if so, it blows.
1/3/2008 9:22:44 PM
it does take xd cards. But, i happened to have a fuji right before it, so it was fine for me i can take that bitch in the water under 30 feet. its worth the xd card.

the DSC-H7 is only like $100 more and has way more features thoughi think i'll either go with the H3 or the H7

most cameras now have waterproof housings. The T100 i got uses the Sony Marine Pack, and is watertight to 132ft
1/3/2008 9:29:52 PM
so you bought a camera that woulda been given a "C+" if it were in college...
1/3/2008 9:31:38 PM
yeah but how much does those waterproof housings cost??thats just my compact point and shoot.i have an hd handycam for everything else thats freaking sweet to play with

^^ It's not to be seen on that scale. The absolute best camera in its class was an 82. If you've never used consumer reports before, then you don't understand it's scale. If graded on a curve, it would been an A+.If something gets 100 on consumer reports, it means you buy it.But it's not like a multiple choice math test where 100 is right on every answer. It's a relative scale.
