I like it. I just hate ordering it when I'm dining out.

You pay an arm and a leg just to have some type of meat in your food (no homo).

Italian food is very tasty, but tends to be pretty unhealthy too.

For New Years I made some shrimp spaghetti with zucchini/squash in a olive oil, balsamic vinaigrette, and diced tomatos sauce. Was very good.

I'm guessing they barely eat, but I'm not a scientist or anything. Just look at those fuckers from the Sopranos if you disagree.

If you can lump all Italian food into a blanket statement when I said "tends to be unhealthy" then I can lump all people of Italian descent together regardless of actual nationality.

I dunno

maybe in America everybody slurps down sodas and high fructose corn syrup is in everything and we all drive our asses around in SUVs like a god damn chariot because the shit is huge and nobody else is riding in it

maybe that gets everybody here fat... regardless of ethnic origin
unless they don't assimilate

I really don't think driving an SUV makes you more fat than driving any other car.

BTW, In response to the thread topic, I have this to say:

only proper that the people are big too

Though I've never been to Italy, my best guess (based on my personal tastes) would be Babymoon Cafe in Morrisville or Caffe Luna downtown.

I like Italian food, but it's not like I give dissertations on my beliefs or distribute pamphlets in my neighborhood indicating that fact. Outside of this thread I really don't hear anyone talking about Italian food, or any particular food come to think of it. You'd think there would have to be a lot of people out there that are always talking about it for you to consider it overrated.

Meh. This one really does come down to tastes.

Italians started using tomatoes in the 1500's as did the rest of europe. They made far better use of them than america ever did.

Most traditional italian food (and i mean food of Roman origin) died out centuries ago, though there are still a few lingering influences.

Most of what americans consider italian food (spaghetti, lasagna, ziti, etc...) is of southern italian and sicilian descent, but is still heavily adapted to american tastes.

If you want an idea of what classic italian food is, go buy the cookbook titled The Silver Spoon

but tomatoes were considered ornamental fruits in Europe

people didn't start eating them on a large scale until the 18th century

Stereotypical Italian food is blah

My take on italian is protein (steak, fish, chicken etc) and veggies, sometimes a pasta. There is so much more to italian food than pastas, pizza, etc.

Is it downtown? A bar on the bottom and resturant on top? Live jazz on weekends? I think I've been there.

^^ Carrabbas has some decent food for what it is. But dont confuse it for real italian.

Italian, and italian inspired are two different things
