I just got a puppy a couple days ago. She's 12 weeks old and is already named Brownie. I don't have anything against the name except that I would like something more appropriate for her. She's not all that brown. I think if I were to give her a food/dog name it would be Cinnabun. At least that's more original. Plus the brown parts of her coat are swirly like cinnamon and the white is like frosting. Is it ok to rename her? If so what name suggestions do you have?

depends on how much you care about her

if she is nothing but a food name then go ahead and food name her

but if you care for her then give her a thoughtful name

I had a dog named Brownie.

Just change her name monthly. See how long it takes her to adjust.

Cannelle is too pretentious and she doesn't look like a pretentious dog.

Go with Cinnabun, that way you can scratch her on the back of the head and go "buuuuunnnnnnnn, you such a good girl" or, when she's being bad give a sharp stern "bun!"

Can you really do that with Cannelle? No, no you can't.

Dogs dont know thier names

They just know the sound of the first part of their names

So since you've been calling her Brownie, change it to something else with a Br- sound

so something like Brick, Brawny, Britney, Brian or Brittanica

I renamed my dog when he was 2 or 3 years old, but it wasn't a big change. He went from Nikki to Mickey. Who the fuck names a male dog Nikki?

food names always work... for instance... my cat Grits!

BTW, animals respond to the WAY you say their name, not really what you call them. I have a dog named "Little Girl", and we call her Hoochie, Peeb, Heem, and a whole list of other names. my other dog Tonka - Bonkey, Honkey, Booga Head, and a bunch of other names. Grits goes by Munkin and My Love. Its all in how you talk to them rather that what you say to them.
