buy an xbox instead and a cheapy laptop
1/2/2008 2:04:44 PM
Unless you have a real use for it that requires you spend that much, $1700 is overkill.
1/2/2008 2:04:45 PM
if it means he difference between standard porn and HD porn, then fuck yes its worth itotherwise, its debatable
1/2/2008 2:04:51 PM
if you really wanna waste money the apple store has one for $2800

Rule #1 of being a nerd.1) Buy overpriced electronics.2) Justify later.

lol there is not one laptop i would buy for over a grand
1/2/2008 2:06:42 PM
actually i had a lot of fun customising my new dell m1330, it felt great, other than actually opening the box and showing it off i think ive had all the fun i can have with itnow i htink i'll just cancel the order then buy a 500 laptop with a webcam.i recommend it, just get a dell preferred account, customize the most expensive laptop, then cancell it, its fun.[Edited on January 2, 2008 at 2:08 PM. 1/2/2008 2:07:40 PM
i'd cancel.unless really need to have it.
1/2/2008 2:20:58 PM
Buy a $500 laptop, keep $100 for yourself, and send me the remaining $1100 to come fuck you in the ass. It'll be basically the same experience.

There's no sense in overpaying for a laptop unless it's a Mac.This way at least you have a support group of people who are in exactly the same boat.
1/2/2008 2:41:49 PM
My car isn't even worth 1700 dollars.
1/2/2008 2:42:22 PM
what kind of laptop?the price tag only tells you the price
1/2/2008 2:42:36 PM
thats a rediculous price! I paid like 700 for mine after the 200 in rebates (plus it was tax free) and I friggin love it!(I owe less than that to pay off my truck loan)[Edited on January 2, 2008 at 2:44 PM. Reason : ]
1/2/2008 2:43:39 PM
i'd pay $1700 for a solid thinkpad over any cheap, crappy brands or models

I'M ON MY MAC RIGHT NOW WHILE TAKING A BATH IN CAVIAR FROM FISH YOU COULD NEVER HOPE TO KNOW THE NAMES OF

1/2/2008 4:27:35 PM
sounds pretty sweeti'd love an LED backlit screenif i were you, i'd wait a few months for cheaper SSD drives and a penryn processor (cooler and more energy efficient = good for laptops)

I spent 750 on mine 2 years ago and it works fine. I don't know what you need to do that justifies 1700.
1/2/2008 5:21:00 PM
1/2/2008 9:17:14 PM
i spent about 1100 on mine over the summer. everything that i could have added was slight overkill i felt like. none of the upgrades were really justified. i got one of those dell 1420s. like it.
1/2/2008 11:03:49 PM
when I purchase a laptop I'm sure it will cost over $1kI'd like a powerful, but smaller macbook
1/2/2008 11:09:07 PM
No, never. You could buy a $600 laptop AND build an $1100 desktop that would blow any $1700 laptop out of the water for gaming.
1/2/2008 11:13:18 PM
so we've decided this person is over payingnow someone give me advice on a laptop from Apple
1/2/2008 11:26:57 PM
^^i actually like that idea
1/2/2008 11:32:18 PM
if it's the year 2001, then yes a laptop is worth $1700
1/2/2008 11:35:31 PM
dang... I spent almost $3K on my laptop... and I LOVE it. Never lets me down, built sturdy. It cost so much cause I needed the 1600x1200 native resolution and Fire series graphics for business. The upgraded screen, graphics, and 4 (maybe 5) year warranty set me back almost another $1000.<3 it though.
1/2/2008 11:42:19 PM
Call dell up and tell them you want to return it. They'll offer you a pretty decent offer like $300 off or something if you keep it. If they don't, then return it.
1/2/2008 11:44:42 PM
i didnt een click on the thread before i saidNOPE
1/3/2008 12:26:57 AM
If people buy consoles for $400-600, then it justifies buying a laptop for $1700.and also, $1700 for a mac is not worth it, but $1700 for anything else, and it is.macs: don't do it.
1/3/2008 12:27:52 AM
why so anti-Mac?I'm not thinking $1700I'm hoping for more like $1000I want it to be small
1/3/2008 12:46:37 AM
the only good one's a free one
1/3/2008 2:43:47 AM
1. Macs are notoriously overpriced2. they don't play vidya games3. one mouse button. WTF?!other than that they are fine.
1/3/2008 2:46:12 AM
$1700 is nothingi spent $2600 on my macbook pro ^1. you get what you pay for2. yes they do, they can also run windows3. the macbooks are set up so if you have 2 fingers on the mousepad while clicking, it's a right click. i like it much better than having a right click button
1/3/2008 2:52:21 AM
my laptop was 2600 bucks, and its only 12 inches.but then, i didnt pay for it
1/3/2008 3:00:11 AM
nevereverpaythismuch...
1/3/2008 4:59:01 AM

1/4/2008 4:13:41 PM
Be prepared for the re-stocking fee......
1/4/2008 4:37:43 PM
i dont think so , i think they did away with that, i hope so at l east
1/4/2008 6:05:48 PM
Nope. I work for Dell and it's usually 15% of what you paid, especially if it's been used.Almost a year ago, I had a customer who purchased a desktop then changed her mind and wanted a notebook. She signed for the desktop when it came with instructions to immediately send it back. She never even opened the box and Customer Service tried to hit her with a $300 re-stocking fee. It took awhile but I was able to remove the fee being she was going to buy a notebook (which was going to cost her more anyways)
1/4/2008 6:42:25 PM
no fucking way
1/4/2008 6:47:04 PM
you could buy 2 of my laptop for 1700 bucks, and i like mine a lot
1/4/2008 6:50:15 PM
are you getting a laptop through a rent a center?!nah but for real i imagine one could easily be worth that much, like some of that alienware stuff
1/4/2008 6:50:46 PM
Set em up
