Anyone else notice this? CBS has a look that isn't as sharp, and the colors also look somewhat muted compared to NBC and ABC. Does anyone know why this is?

it's so that the old people can see it better.

i think you have what they call "bad reception"
1/1/2008 4:33:11 PM
No, it has been this way no matter where I have lived.

no its true. i took a tv class in high school and our teacher gave a lecture about it. CBS is softer. NBC is brighter. ABC is very clean and clear.

You can really notice it if you watch a rerun of CSI Miami on NBC. It looks like a totally different show. And yes, they all 3 do have their own look. Obviously its on purpose, but I wonder what the reason for it is.

like i said: old people.

fox is definitely the brightest of the broadcasts IMO, at least during sports.

you can really tell the difference during presidential press conferences or during live news events that which all are covering

I've noticed a problem with NBC and the color red. Reds for some reason have green stripes in them. I've noticed it on other people's sets as well. Both homes were connected to DIRECTV, so I don't know if it is something in the NBC transmission to their satellite or not.

I've gotten the green stripes too, just figured it was my cable feed.

CBS has always looked softer as long as I can remember. Not sure exactly why. GOOGLE HELP!

yeah, cbs is retarded looking. it's not bad reception. it's that way on all regular tube tvs and flat panels, in every city i've watched tv in.someone told me one time that it's the type of film/tape they use (different from what NBC and ABC use). i know nothing beyond that though.i do know that it looks like shit.
1/1/2008 11:29:24 PM
i like NBC the best. i can't watch anything on CBS cuz it looks so shitty.

I had noticed this as well. You are spot on about CBS being muted. I can also tell the difference in production value of dramas and sitcoms on the different networks. CBS appears to only show series that have a dark and muted tone and their dramas have predominant scenes that occur at night. ABC, however, appears to show dramas that have scenes that predominantly occur during the day. Thus they are much move vivid and lively. I mean do they do this on purpose as a network?

NBC's audio for HD sports is the fucking worst.
1/2/2008 9:47:23 AM
Tangentally related:Anyone notice that pretty much every NBC drama had a car crash occur (where they had the shot from in the car across the character towards the oncoming car) this season? Did they as a network invest in a machine that did this shot or what? Or is it that they all have the same special effects house and that's their pet shot this year?
1/2/2008 10:01:00 AM
yeah. CBS just isn't as clear. FOX NEWS is like crystal. typically NBC has solid programming and a good look to the shows. but yeah. there's brainwashing and subliminal similarities on all the shows and networks. don't let TV destroy your fucking mind. to combat it "smoke weed" while watching the tele.
