did not see this coming.
12/31/2007 3:39:49 PM
I hope the Ravens never win another game after losing to Miami this year.
12/31/2007 3:41:41 PM
I'm guessing Linehan is next, with Cameron and Martz as other distinct possibilities.
12/31/2007 3:46:28 PM
I think Nolan might be on his way out also
12/31/2007 3:51:52 PM
what do you guys think fox's odds are of staying?
12/31/2007 4:01:59 PM
100%
12/31/2007 4:10:15 PM
12/31/2007 4:15:36 PM
he gets 1 more year IMO to put up or shut up. and i really don't care if the entire team gets injured, at some point the coaches have to be accountable
12/31/2007 6:16:29 PM
I think Fox stays one more year and then next year we'll push hard to get Cowher back. And Cam will stay in Miami for another year or so and then they'll push for the Tuna to take control of coaching.

1/2/2008 9:14:09 PM
Marvin Lewis is the one that needs to go.Top 5 QB, 2 top 10 WRs and nothing to show for it all these years. His defensive prowess has yet to appear.

Cameron fired in Miamihttp://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3178646shock of the year lol
1/3/2008 9:35:07 AM
i was just waiting for that to happen. i figured it would come once he got his GM hired.
1/3/2008 9:40:29 AM
Carolina needs to pick him up as an OC and do it QUICKKKKKKKKKsomeone will do it soon thats for sure
1/3/2008 10:00:59 AM
Has anybody else thought Marty Schottenheimer would be perfect for Miami right now. Other than Tuna, Marty's one of the best at getting teams out of the cellar. Now playoffs are a different story, but that should be the least of Miami's concerns right now.
1/3/2008 10:02:47 AM
I think Atlanta needs Marty, either them or Baltimore, he seems like the perfect fit in those places, id love to see him in Baltimore with the potential they have
1/3/2008 10:05:41 AM
I'm buzzin, Dirty Dozen, naughty rotten rhymerCursin at you players worse than Marty Schottenheimerbut I think he'd be a good fit...you need someone with balls to coach in the same division as Belichick. I just don't know if the sidelines at Pro Player Stadium are big enough to hold both his and Parcell's massive egos.
1/3/2008 10:08:10 AM
the ravens and falcons are talking to former wake forest coach and current colts assistant jim caldwell
1/3/2008 12:24:21 PM
He was a nice guy but poor coach at Wake. He's gotten a lot of experience since then as Dungy's right hand man. Dungy and Manning supposedly think very highly of him, and he should do fine with a good staff.
1/3/2008 1:12:00 PM
Carolina should do whatever it takes to get Cameron as OC.
1/5/2008 1:31:50 AM
1/5/2008 4:51:30 AM
Martz new 49ers OC. If only we had a fucking QB for his offense. Six OCs in six years... kinda looks like the Defense Against the Dark Arts teaching position. AMIRITE.
1/8/2008 6:48:11 PM
Add the Skins to this list.Rumor is it's Bill Cowher.I hope who ever Danny brings in keeps at least Saunders. I don't wanna see JC struggle to learn yet another offense. If it's not Cowher, then I hope the hire from within and move Gregg Williams up to head coach.
1/8/2008 7:04:05 PM
Cowher has denied time and time again that he will be in DC, and I believe himI think they go after Williams, personally I think Cowher is waiting on the Panthers job...he'll be back into the NFL eventually.

I really wanted Shanahan to work out, but it just didn't.

I can't see Bill Cowher wanting to go into that dumpster fire. Him and Gruden should have their pick of the litter. I can't see either wanting to work in Washington.

^^Definitely agree. Cowher would pretty much be able to coach wherever he wants. WAS and CLE are the two least attractive destinations of all the openings.[Edited on December 30, 2013 at 12:01 PM. Reason : assuming Cowher even wants to coach]
12/30/2013 12:01:08 PM
edit: not going to speculate on Cowher. I don't see that happening. Gruden is from Tampa, though. [Edited on December 30, 2013 at 1:09 PM. Reason : nevermind]
12/30/2013 1:06:00 PM
The Skins have the $$ for Cowher, but i don't think Dan Snyder would give up control. I thought Cowher wanted a job where he had full player personnel control.
12/30/2013 1:45:03 PM
you gotta assume washington pursues art briles.
12/30/2013 1:58:45 PM
that would legitimately be one of the worst decisions in the history of the NFLso there is absolutely no way that it happensit'd be damn funny if it did, though[Edited on December 30, 2013 at 2:07 PM. Reason : ^^ Shanahan had full player personnel control]
12/30/2013 2:06:03 PM
That would be a huge mistake.
12/30/2013 2:07:35 PM
I don't know that Gruden would go back to Tampa. 2nd tours never seem to go that well (see: Gibbs, volume II)
12/30/2013 2:22:10 PM
Aren't the Texans hiring Bill OBrien from Penn State? I thought ESPN was reporting that yesterday. As for Gruden, that Lions team looks like the most appealing to me. Stafford is a top-15, possibly top-10 QB if he can play more consistent. Megatron is the best WR on the planet. Bell and Bush are a good 1-2 tandem at RB and there is talent at the DL and LB core. The Lions mainly need a good coach, some more talent in the secondary, and a better #2 WR and they'll be a very good team.
12/30/2013 4:16:05 PM
Stafford isn't a top-15 qb
12/30/2013 5:13:32 PM
Name 15 better

Manning/Brady/Brees/Rodgers/Ryan/Wilson/Luck/Cam/Kaepernick/Roethlisberger/Romo/Rivers/Flacco/Cutler/Dalton
12/30/2013 5:27:01 PM
Flacco? Cutler? Wat.
12/30/2013 5:30:38 PM
they're all pretty much the same at the end of that list, but none of them have Megatron to bail them out on a regular basis
12/30/2013 5:32:59 PM
All the 2nd tier QBs have their pros and cons. Clearly the upper tier is Manning, Brees, Rodgers, and Brady although Brady played like a 2nd tier guy in the early part of this season. Rivers played like a 1st tier guy again this year. It is very difficult to rank the 6-16 guys although Dalton would definitely be 16 out of the list above. I'd put Eli ahead of him too even though he had a historically bad season. Also Foles has to be in the top-15 discussion. He is definitely better than Flacco and Cutler IMO.
12/30/2013 5:50:06 PM
admittedly forgot about Foles. after this run he should definitely be on the list, although I'd like to see a full season from him
