I am giving myself an XBOX 360 as a XMAS present today and I was wondering what game I should also get. I know I will be getting HALO 3 for my B-day in 2 days so I thought of following game

^^ Got other money priorities and time priorities for now to have a bunch of games. yeah i thought of the multiplayer aspet of CoD4 and have played it before. Pretty awesome game. I figured having halo3 i will have the multiplayer shootem-up game thus i'm kinda leaning toward M.E or oblivion.

I also vote CoD4, yes it is a FPS like Halo 3... but just a completely different type of experience. I have both, and Halo 3 is great (even though nobody will play Forge Mode with me!!! ), but CoD4 is the most addictive and entertaining game I have played yet - Even going back through and playing the single player campaign (which I RARELY ever would do with any game) is fun as hell.

If you like Halo, then you will love CoD4.

Call of Duty 4. I have it on PS3 and it is very addicting. Halo just doesn't hold a candle to it. And COD4's singleplayer is simply awesome.

if you have xbox live, then there's no question and you should go with COD4.

if you don't, i'd still recommend it over mass effect. not sure about oblivion tho

granted i havent played either of them. but watching the roomates play COD4 was entertaining and visually interesting. watching mass effect was like being punched in the face by an accountant.

the campaign for CoD4 is awesome, although short. haven't touched the multiplayer.

you might enjoy mass effect for a long single player game

oblivion is a huge time sink, haven't played it but i did play morrowind, i'd pass.

Bioshock is awesome as well, pretty good game to watch too.

i'd go with call of duty 4. just got it for christmas and beat the single player already (just on regular mode) but it was really addicting. I had to force myself to put the controller down and go eat some bojangles. i'm almost afraid to start playing it online though because i'm sure that there's a steep learning curve compared to halo.

From what I can tell of my brothers and their XBox 360...

They're Halo junkies, always have been. Got Halo 3 the very first day it was released. But, recently, they got Call of Duty 4, and that's been the main dig since. They love the game, it's pretty awesome, even just watching it. I don't even say the two are very comparable. Not that I could say one is better than the other, but that they're both kickass.

probably comparable

in addition to being able to play like 50 years of franchise or whatever in each game, they also both have a 'superstar' mode where you focus on one player...plus all the replayability of going online with both games

fwiw i rented NCAA and Madden and sent NCAA back after about 3-4 months and bought Madden
