scarface is probably the most overrated film of all time
12/24/2007 4:46:00 PM
my top ten would be...1. LA Confidential2. Seven3. the Godfather4. Road to Perdition5. Goodfellas6. Mystic River7. Collateral 8. the Usual Suspects9. Memento10. Ocean's Eleven[Edited on December 24, 2007 at 6:26 PM. Reason : jkjh]
12/24/2007 6:23:37 PM
i like that 2nd list muuuuch better for the simple reason that Scarface is at 16.Scarface isn't a great movie. Tony Montana is simply one of the most recognizable, overtly shameless characters in cinematic history....which, i guess actually says quite a bit.**disclaimer** I like Scarface...just sayin'.^^and I just saw thegoodlife's post..I kinda agree.[Edited on December 24, 2007 at 8:06 PM. Heat is in my top 3. City of God is probably my favorite in this genre.
12/24/2007 8:19:18 PM
Very solid choice.

still haven't seen scarface. I don't really plan on it either, should I?I'm not sure how this happened, I just never got around to it. Kind of how i haven't seen LOTR3 or Braveheart.
12/25/2007 12:22:37 AM
Goodfellas is on A&E currently. This is my first time watching it; however I'll have to rewatch it sometime soon without the commercial breaks and with all the cursing I'm almost certain I'm missing.
12/25/2007 1:06:06 AM
I don't know if I would consider Pulp Fiction a true crime "drama." It's a decent drama, but it seems to be more remembered for its comedy than it's crime drama aspets.

12/28/2007 2:25:51 AM
I suggest watching Mean Streets before making a list of Crime Dramas
12/28/2007 2:52:40 AM
heat should be like a top 3
12/28/2007 3:22:15 AM
My top 5 are:1. Goodfellas2. L.A. Confidential3. Godfather (1 & 2 are the best)4. Pulp Fiction5. The Departed
12/28/2007 4:10:43 AM
I really liked the Departed. It isn't quite as epic as the others but Jack Nicholson did a really good job.
12/28/2007 9:40:44 AM
Belly didnt make the list. I fucking love Bellyhttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt0158493/
12/28/2007 10:10:15 AM

2/9/2008 7:23:28 PM
I was just coming in here to mention Miller's Crossing, which is #1 on my list. I do love Goodfellas, though.
2/9/2008 7:23:56 PM
you can agree to disagree but American Gangster breaks into my top 10 somewhere.
2/10/2008 5:34:00 PM
I haven't seen American Gangster yet. I'm waiting till that and Eastern Promises come to Campus Theater to check them out. From this year, I would add Gone Baby Gone and Zodiac as two of the best crime dramas this year.
2/10/2008 6:02:42 PM
Gone Baby Gone was this year's most underrated movie. I was really impressed. Something about Boston and cobs/robbers movies is really special.
2/10/2008 6:07:19 PM
i still really want to see it
2/10/2008 6:09:40 PM

2/10/2008 7:17:00 PM
Goodfellas is my favorite too. I just picked it up on Blu-ray last week for $15 at Best Buy and it looks great.
2/11/2008 8:29:56 AM
there are some good movies on these lists. i also think that scarface is a touch overrated. maybe that's because i hadn't seen it a couple years ago and had been hearing the hype for so long, but i was not blown away.i'd have to say my top five are:1.the usual suspects (#1 easily)2.the boondock saints3.pulp fiction4.heat5.lock, stock and two smoking barrels
2/11/2008 8:47:40 AM
2/11/2008 9:31:43 AM
1. Chinatown2. Chinatown3. Chinatown4. Chinatown5. Goodfellas[Edited on February 11, 2008 at 11:45 AM. Reason : fjsd]
2/11/2008 11:45:25 AM
I have never seen Chinatown. I've had it recorded on my DVR for the past six months but just haven't gotten around to it.
2/11/2008 11:48:25 AM
Watch it.one of if not the best screenplays ever if you axe me.Forget it Jake, it's Chinatown.
2/11/2008 11:55:47 AM
Makes me want to see a bunch of these films. Particularly Road to Perdition...the graphic novel was excellent (read it multiple times) so I'd like to check out the cinematic version.
2/11/2008 12:05:41 PM
I also recommend Eastern Promises. Different kind of crime movie, but very good regardless.
