so last night as i'm sitting at a light i get rear ended. i get out and look at my car and don't see anything, but it's dark and I want to take a closer look. the hispanic dude who ran into me is in this little late 80's model nissan POS. he can hardly speak english. He just wants to leave because he doesn't see damage, and I may have agreed if I wasn't driving a rental. i wanted to cover my ass so I asked for us to pull over. Before I did that, I got his license plate. Well, I pull over and he takes off strait. I call the cops and they show up in about 20 minutes. They didn't believe I got hit. They treated me like a suspect the entire time and made no effort to track down this guy I gave them the plates of. I eventually left feeling used and abused. I see their side that they have more important things to worry with than a hit and run with no visible damage. Did I follow the correct protocol here or overreact?I was pissed. End of story.

this was in CA by the way. They said they couldn't report it as a collision because there was no visible damage. He said there would be a record that I called and reported it, however.
