not sure why this pisses me off so much, but why the hell do people do this so god damn often when it is so unneccessary. it is only practical when you know you will have a difficult time backing out such as at a sporting event. people do this all the time at restuarants, my apartment complex, etc etc. whyyyyyyy??? they spend so much more time trying to get their car into the spot when backing it in than it would take to back it up and leave.

I often wonder this myself.
12/22/2007 9:26:49 PM
yea i dunno why it pisses you off either
12/22/2007 9:27:29 PM
haha why in the hell would this piss you off?
12/22/2007 9:30:05 PM
the only way I can think is that you perhaps are trying to drive around the perpetrator or something
12/22/2007 9:31:33 PM
I like to back in between two big trucks so it looks like there is an empty spot until you pull right up to it and there is a car there.
12/22/2007 9:32:37 PM
ill always back in if i drive past it too fast or if its too tight of a straight-in turn
12/22/2007 9:34:02 PM
If the current accessway is clear i.e. no cars coming towards me or following me, when I'm pulling into the space, it takes me 15 seconds max to pull forward and back into it because:1. I drive a truck and don't wanna back over someone's kid, or idiotic adult, no matter how slow I back out.2. I can't see through other vehicles as easily.3. Instead of wondering if I'll back into someone's car when I'm leaving I can just leave normally.4. Turning problems are compounded trying not to sideswipe someone parked beside me with my front end when in concert with #3, especially in small parking lots.Granted a lot of that comes from driving a large vehicle, she's got a big ass on her but it's just simply easier for me.
12/22/2007 9:34:50 PM
That's because you're a bad person, dweedle.

if i pull directly into a space, i usually have to back up to straighten my car anyway
12/22/2007 9:36:46 PM
my newer truck has a pretty tight turning radius, but I have an old one with no power steering that can be hard to fit into tight parking spaces. it's easier to back it in for the same reason that forklifts that steer with the rear wheels fit into tighter places.

dude, it's simple, I can back into a spot just as easy as pulling into one. It's not like it's difficult. If I'm parking to my left, I"ll pull in. If I'm in the right lane of a parking lot, and I want to park on my right, I'll back in. Works every time.
12/22/2007 10:26:12 PM
i'm afraid to pull through a spot. always feel someone is gonna pull in quickly since they can't see me
12/22/2007 10:30:45 PM
its much more dangerous to back out of a parking spot than into one.
12/22/2007 10:36:13 PM
^people manage to do fine though pulling in and backing up when they leave without to much trouble
12/22/2007 10:53:47 PM
Hooray for combat parking!
12/22/2007 10:54:05 PM
I back into the space at my apartment complex because people drive like maniacs through the parking lot and I want to be able to see them when I pull out.

I always back my SUV in. I also normally park in a spot where only 1 car can get beside me ( you know like next to a curb, end of parking lot, etc. People do this a lot more with nicer cars. Easier to get out also.

12/22/2007 11:50:58 PM
i still park my new car way out away from any cars when i can
12/22/2007 11:53:25 PM
I almost always back in my spot (when I'm parking at my apt complex). When I'm parking at a business or whatever, I couldn't care less.

i like to back into a spot if the car to the left of me is parked all over the line. If I have to squeeze into the spot, I like to screw him over by putting my passenger door a few inches from his (as long as it's a decent looking car, cause then I know they probably care enough not to back out using my car as a bumper guard), thus leaving me enough room to get out of my door.

I think you all are missing the point here.Ask any spy, crime fighter, super hero; You never see them throw their cars in reverseand look over their shoulder to dash after a bad guy. It just isn't done.

12/23/2007 10:01:11 AM
Two reasons.Easier to view traffic and pull out.I'm always in more of a rush to leave a place than get there, so it saves a gear shift.
12/23/2007 10:33:19 AM
some of us drive larger vehicles making it necessary to do this to fit in narrow spots cause some of you asshats can't park your own vehicles evenly in the linesor i could just try pulling in and risk hitting your car in the process and when backing out- no skin off my back- not like plenty of dumbasses haven't already hit my truck
12/23/2007 10:44:30 AM
12/23/2007 11:16:25 AM
i will back in only if there are people waiting to get around mebut then again, i also bring out one bag at a time at the mall so a line will form as i go back inside
12/23/2007 11:25:25 AM
we do it as EMS people because we have to back the ambulance into the stationwe're used to it
