Just got back from it... it was gooda lil long, but it had some good action scenes and there were some pretty funny linesanyone else see it? what did you think? the girls i was with liked it, but the other dude fell asleep halfway thru it (of course a midnight showing might have had something to do with that)
12/21/2007 2:44:45 AM
did it end exactly like temple of doom?because the first one ends exactly like raiders.
12/21/2007 3:00:17 AM
yeah...everyone I watched it with agreed it sucked... the first one was kind of a guilty pleasure of mine. But this one was just bad. Felt like the writing was rushed.
12/21/2007 3:52:12 AM
man i hate to hear that. and usually Thor's take and mine are similar.Like you^, the first one became a favorite of mine after watching it one late night when i was home and didn't go out. I loved it, I still do. That's why i was excited about this one. I'm sure i'll still see it however.
12/21/2007 7:40:39 AM
yeah, it was entertaining but definately something that could have waited until dvd release. As for the ending, it was very Indiana Jones-esque
12/21/2007 10:02:01 AM
Did they find Ben Franklin's 3-D holographic map to the location of Montezuma's Gold only to find they couldn't take it past the seal in the cave it was buried in?Or did they use Abraham Lincoln's GPS device that he fashioned out of wood that was recovered from his log cabin that eventually led all the malnourished Mexican children across the U.S. border?
12/21/2007 10:26:33 AM
and who did you take to this movie?\
12/21/2007 10:26:44 AM
i like to watch the 1st just cause of the creaking stairs and the collapse.... they sound awesome but yeah its like 1 part dan brown novel + 1 part indiana jones movie.
12/21/2007 4:08:41 PM
does it have any awesome moments like the first movie, where nicholas cage instantly interprets some horribly obscure poem perfectly to give him the exact location of whatever treasure?
12/21/2007 5:07:49 PM
^ that....times 10.Every time he is faced with some crazy puzzle, he instantly solves it.GIVE IT A VIRUS!
12/21/2007 5:28:02 PM
saw it tonight. wasn't too thrilled about seeing it, wasn't a huge fan of the first. but i actually thought it was pretty good. very entertaining. some parts were pretty corny and it had many moments of "there's no way in hell that could ever happen". but a fun movie overallthe riley character is hilarious. "it's a....little golden man" haa
12/22/2007 2:31:05 AM
12/22/2007 3:13:21 AM
snorkel. see i can do it too. albequerquehahaha
12/22/2007 11:19:31 AM
It was ridiculous but pretty entertaining for that same reason
12/22/2007 12:18:21 PM
i didnt think it was bad, but i did feel it was long, ambling, and even more over the top than the first. it was still fun though, and i'd recommend to anyone who was a fan of the first. just know going in that the typical sequel tries to outdo what made the first one good, and this sequel is no exception.
12/23/2007 7:05:13 PM
no offense, but this movie looks absolutely horrible
12/23/2007 7:09:17 PM
Hahahahahahahaha. I was just making stuff up when I was talking about Abraham Lincoln and Montezuma's gold above. I just saw the Ebert & Roeper review today and was floored that both come up in the actual movie. Maybe I should write part three while the real writers are on strike.
12/23/2007 8:28:01 PM
the first one was fun, this one was just stupid, really really stupid.
12/24/2007 12:59:23 AM
the only redeeming quality of this movie, i'm guessing, is ed harris
12/24/2007 1:07:33 AM
no,its really really really dumb
12/24/2007 1:34:22 AM
i liked it, it was funny and fun, i knew what to expect though
12/24/2007 2:30:52 AM
no the redeeming quality is the hot german chick
12/24/2007 2:36:50 AM
spoilers:why didnt the people who "concealed the clues to the city of gold" by building Rushmore not just find it themselves? everyone like gold...and how did finding the city clear up his ancestors name? he (the ancestor) could have very well been looking for the city AND trying to kill Lincoln, finding that the city actually existed didnt clear up shit concerning Booth and Lincoln
12/24/2007 8:40:20 AM
12/24/2007 9:20:07 AM
sigh. why oh why do people STILL make that argument??? jesus christ.I fucking HATE idiots that use shit like that... its the same people who when an NFL QB has a shitty game come up with the brilliant logic "well, hes still making more money than you"
12/24/2007 1:29:42 PM
It fit my expectations for a blockbuster type movie to watch during the holidays. Entertaining and corny.
12/24/2007 11:04:00 PM
i was entertained.pops paid for the ticket.
12/24/2007 11:59:37 PM
like it, worth seeing. i think funnier than the first
12/25/2007 8:30:24 AM
It was pretty cool...I liked it.i watched it on the internet...pretty good quality.
12/25/2007 9:36:25 AM
i fucking hate nicholas cage with a passion, and will not see this movie.
12/25/2007 7:59:39 PM
I saw it the other dayIt was pretty stupid, but it was pretty good
12/26/2007 11:11:45 AM
it sucked cccccccccccoooooooooooocccccccccckkkkkkkkkkk
12/26/2007 2:41:22 PM
^yeah mine.....thats why it was good
12/26/2007 3:02:29 PM
I thought it was entertaining for a mindless, holiday movie. When I go to a movie like this, I don't expect to be pushed intellectually.
12/26/2007 4:11:57 PM
i thought it was terrible.the first one was ok because cage is presented as a bumbling, 'everyman' who knows his shit. in this one he is superman cat burgular cool guy.
12/26/2007 5:27:47 PM
I enjoyed the first one, although I'll admit that before I saw it I thought it was the worst premise for a movie. Realistically, it's probably one of my favorite family movies.Just saw the second one, again, I enjoyed it because it was pretty much the same dynamic. My only complaint is that it felt like they were kinda stretching some of the clues, where as the clues in the first one felt more thought out.Regardless, I'll see the third one.I do think the one complaint about Nicholas Cage movies is that he's basically playing himself in every movie, although this kinda movie seems to fit him well.
12/26/2007 11:07:27 PM
12/27/2007 2:33:51 PM
so...so...badi got suckered into watching it with the famits like a semi-pro mystery movie for idiots
12/27/2007 3:04:05 PM
It is a mediocre movie, just turn of you thinking cap and let the movie wash over you. Pretty much exactly the same as the first one. it was good to see on xmas though when we were bored. I just love how the bad guys are bad for no real reason.. Like they could of just asked Cage to help them and he probably would have. But they kidnap people and point guns, only to work with him as a team later on anyway. Both of these movies are laughable, but worth seeing over most of the shit out there.
12/27/2007 5:50:05 PM
I LOVED this movie. Fantastic -- just got back. Definitely going to buy the DVD.I hope to goodness they make a 3rd one.Heck I thought this was better than the first.
1/1/2008 6:56:59 PM
I thought the movie was pretty horrible. It was predictable, too easy to figure out, and slow. Overall I'd give it a D.
1/1/2008 7:15:34 PM
AWESOME. Who can't like these movies. That are so ridiculous! Watching Cage figure out about the two desks in Paris was some good acting. Although my favorite moment was when Keitel heard that the president was kidnapped and yelled "GATES!!!" Good stuff. And the setup for the next sequel was obvious.aha, I also had forgotten Gates' use of the traffic camera. Brilliant!
1/1/2008 11:05:58 PM
i want to see this pretty soon. i dont care if its bad or not
1/3/2008 7:43:24 PM
You're just the kind of fag that would want to see this.
1/3/2008 7:51:19 PM
i can't imagine i could sit through a Nicholas Cage movie in which he solves cryptic things quickly.
1/3/2008 8:43:41 PM
it sucked like I said earlierI'm usually a big Ed Harris fanbut he mailed it inSean Bean was a much better bad guy in the first oneSean Fucking Bean! You're better than that, Ed Harris
1/3/2008 9:59:16 PM
make my parents leavemake my parents leavethe highpoint of cinema as we know it.
1/3/2008 11:55:19 PM
It wasn't bad by any means, but at the same time it wasn't anything fantastic. It really seemed like they were trying to hard of just messed up on certain things that seemed to come easily in the first movie... for example, the "villain" (see below spoilers for more). I'd say it's worth seeing, just not as good as the first. If you were unsure about or didn't like the first one, just don't bother.***Spoilers*** They really tried too hard to turn him into a villain in the first place, his character really comes across as someone who would have fit in well as more of a bystander to the main treasure-hunting plot... then they randomly give him some henchman and an evil way of following Nicholas Cage, and it seemed unnecessary, really, other than to create a nice car chase. And when he agrees to ally with Cage and friends late in the movie, until he finally turns "good"... bleh. It would have worked better to have created a character that was actually evil (ie "if I can't have the treasure, no one can"), or to have left his character out of the final treasure hunt entirely. ***end Spoilers***

i love how DiamondAce is post stalking me
1/4/2008 9:01:52 AM
