Hillsborough — Three UNC football players were the victims in a kidnapping, robbery and sexual assault incident that occurred over the weekend, a source tells WRAL.

Chapel Hill police said the assault happened about 3:30 a.m. at an apartment complex in Chapel Hill where all three victims were allegedly bound with tape and then assaulted by the suspects.

It's not clear, however, if all three were sexually assaulted.

Police believe robbery was the motive, and at some point, one of the suspects produced a knife during the assault.

UNC athletics director Dick Baddour, asked about the incident Wednesday, said, “We’re aware of the situation but we don’t have enough information yet.”

None of the victims required medical attention and police arrested two suspects at the scene, police said.

Monique Jenice Taylor, 28, of 209 Millbrook St. in Greenville, and Tnika Monta Washington, 29, of 814 Belvin Avenue in Durham, are each charged with one count of first-degree sex offense, three counts of kidnapping, one count of resisting arrest and three counts of conspiracy to commit a felony.

A third suspect, Michael Troy Lewis, 32, of 2118 Lexington St. in Durham, surrendered to police Wednesday. He is charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of assault on a government official, two counts of possession of stolen goods, three counts of kidnapping, one count of resisting arrest and three counts of conspiracy to commit a felony.

All three suspects were placed under a $500,000 secured bond and were in the Orange County Jail Thursday afternoon.
