i could see a junkyard having the bolt ons, but not the kind you can just set down in the door hinge

not really worth my time anyway, but good suggestion

yeah, and you really don't even need that. i've never heard of anyone actually getting a ticket for it.

yeah, but he's going to want to have something there if it's required...he's new to owning a jeep and i had to tell him you could actually take the doors off no problem and put them right back on...so we're going baby steps here

plus i am COMPLETELY out of xmas ideas and this would be perfect, needed or not

i think i remember seeing people use those bike mirrors that mount on handlebars as a cheap home built solution?

search the jeep forums. this is probably one thing http://www.jeepsunlimited.com would actually be useful for, i'm sure it's a hot topic there.

well, here's a question for you fine garage gentlemen...

i thought i remembered last time i was in raleigh, there was maybe a 4x4 parts store being built or something either on capital or somewhere around there....

anyone know if there is? i wouldn't be opposed to just swinging by and picking up a pair when i get into town rather than tracking down used ones...

I've made one for less than 20, IIRC. Eyebolt that'll fit through the hinge hole, couple of washers and a truck mirror.

I drove without them for the longest time without getting stopped but it really sucked not having one on the drivers side at least. (I think that is the only required one).

Suck it up and buy some new ones off ebay or from quadratec.

Once you mount them you can ditch the gay ones that are on the doors. The only downside is the ones on the doors do not get knocked back if the door swings open too far and the windshield mount ones do.

i got a ticket for not having them, but the cop was a dick. i looked into it later and the passenger side doesnt matter, you just need a drivers side mirror and a rear view mirror. it was easy getting out of the ticket too the assistant da just laughed and told me to have a good day.
