http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/12/17/bank.gift.ap/index.htmlI would be so fucking pissed. I'm sorry, but I need the thousand bucks more than some worthless shit that sits around collecting charity

yeah, seeing how the world is pretty much a level field when it comes to opportunities to eat food, live under a roof, and be treated for illness - I see why you would feel such a way.

motherfucker, i'm an american. i do what i want w/ my money.for real though, i wouldn't be pleased i don't think.

12/18/2007 10:57:10 AM
Maybe the bank should give bonuses and also donate money if they want to donate money
12/18/2007 10:57:24 AM
Not every recipient of charitable activities- sits around waiting for it- asks for it- is worthless- deserves my money]
12/18/2007 10:57:31 AM
if you're not guaranteed a bonus as part of your base salaryis it really ever yours?
I shouldn't have to pay because other people can't. It's my choice, if i want to help, I will. This is America, where you make your life your own. Too much "charity" and government program money goes to assholes that are too lazy to work. If I want to keep my bonus/pay check, it should be my choice

They should make it optional with some kind of incentive like matching people's gifts. They don't know what kind of budget the employees might be on. Some people might've been counting on the bonus to handle some bills. I'm all for charity, but don't take (basically) money out of someone else's pocket to give to others.
12/18/2007 11:01:19 AM
I think it's to keep them from forging tax receipts?I wish I knew what bank this was. I'd be writing a letter to the president.[Edited on December 18, 2007 at 11:02 AM. Reason : lol it's in the article. I shall write a letter after exams]

fuckthat
12/18/2007 11:01:50 AM
why should i spend the money i worked all year for, to even earn a bonus, on christmas presents for my family who i love very much, when i can donate it to some complete strangers
12/18/2007 11:02:04 AM
12/18/2007 11:02:21 AM
I agree completely. But you were saying smath is right (the whole worthless schmuck angle), which is what I take issue with]
12/18/2007 11:03:31 AM
charity is a great thing.that said, you'd all be pissed if your bonus was automatically given away.
12/18/2007 11:03:47 AM
i'd pull a george costanza on their asses & open my own damn charity[Edited on December 18, 2007 at 11:05 AM. Reason : can't spell costanza]

^^^he is right, there are worthless shits that sit around collecting money, thus it should be a person's choice to donate. I don't donate a lot of money to any charity for this reason. On the other hand, I donate toys, donate items to goodwill, donate blood, volunteer work, etc.[Edited on December 18, 2007 at 11:05 AM. Reason : ^]and while some of these donations may still go to worthless shits, it was my choice to donate, and it isn't hurting me in any way, unlike stealing my paycheck or bonuses[Edited on December 18, 2007 at 11:08 AM. 12/18/2007 11:05:17 AM
i am always amused at the general split of threads like this:group A: i dunno...i worked for this money, i earned it fair and square, and i want to spend it on a mortgage payment and christmas presents for my childrengroup B: omg think of the poor man, emotion man, the poor are more important than you man, dude
12/18/2007 11:06:02 AM
charity is why human overpopulation will occur. case in point, population can't generate enough food one year due to natural cycling of their country, population goes hungry, people give aid till the environment swings back, the population increases during good years until the next obvious swing, again people help, but have to put in even more b/c they helped the first time so there are simply more people starving than there were before. repeat a few times and soon one population is totally supporting another.... until the one being supported decides they would like the supporters land/stuff goes to war and takes it...natural patterns of population control are usually a little better, even among humans....(i'm not referring to once in a 100 year events, more like once every 10-20 years (dry seasons))
12/18/2007 11:06:26 AM
that's a bit melodramatic
12/18/2007 11:09:37 AM
12/18/2007 11:10:26 AM
maybe he does need it more than them. if he has to pay off bills, then he needs it. no sense in him being forced to lower his quality of life, which creates more problems.I tried donating platelets a few times, they said no
12/18/2007 11:13:24 AM
While potentially true, that doesn't mean all recipients are worthless.[Edited on December 18, 2007 at 11:14 AM. Reason : asldj]
12/18/2007 11:14:09 AM
it's not like a bank teller is rolling in money. at least not their own money.
12/18/2007 11:14:12 AM
yes I need the money that I work for. If those poor people want money, they can either get it from the mandatory donations I give already through taxes, or they can get a job.
12/18/2007 11:14:44 AM
12/18/2007 11:14:54 AM
^^^^ not all, but I'm sure he didn't mean all. he's just talking shit, which we all tend to do at sometime, even though it may over exaggerate the situation[Edited on December 18, 2007 at 11:15 AM. Reason : ^^]
12/18/2007 11:15:19 AM
its a PR scam for the bank and instead of rewarding someone who has worked all year with some extra money to help pay some bills and help little Sally have a merry christmas, they are going to reward someone who hasnt worked all year...its sad that peoples emotions get the best of them so much that they dont see this for what it is
12/18/2007 11:20:14 AM
i would be pissed. if the bank wants to donate money, great...but it is silly to give someone money and require them to do something specific with it. just eliminate the middle man. its like forcing morality on someone. i will give when i choose to give.
12/18/2007 11:20:42 AM
12/18/2007 11:20:59 AM
I'd donate it to an organization dedicated to promoting laissez-faire capitalism. That'll teach 'em.
12/18/2007 11:21:28 AM
12/18/2007 11:21:46 AM
i can see this sucking, butsocialism? a private company being allowed to make decisions for itself without government interaction is socialism? wtf are you even talking about? the government stepping in and making them allow the employees to keep the bonuses is socialism, if you even stop to think about what you're saying.
12/18/2007 11:23:13 AM
this is terrible. These people worked for that money, and the bonus should go to them to spend on their family. It's not their bonus if they can't spend it how they like.
12/18/2007 11:32:13 AM
I would quit.
12/18/2007 11:36:34 AM
fuck that shit
12/18/2007 11:39:23 AM
that's an interesting ideawhile i'd be upset about losing my bonus, you could use it as a tax write off, and you would be doing something to help another (in the true christmas spirit)
12/18/2007 11:40:16 AM
That's some bullshit. I'd refuse to play their game, if they want to donate to charity they can do it in their own name, and not with my personal time.
12/18/2007 11:41:37 AM
what makes it worse is that they decided to do this AFTER they had been giving bonuses in the past. i know you shouldn't expect a bonus, but a lot of people consider it a part of their salary.
12/18/2007 11:43:15 AM
It wasnt really their bonus.....they gave them the money to give to charity. I figure some of them will figure a way around this, not like the banking is checking. There are always a couple Smath74 in the group.
12/18/2007 11:44:31 AM
if they gave them their normal bonus in addition to this money, greatotherwise fuck that shit in the asshole
