Charlotte is fun...lots of places to go and they drop that crown too. I'm sure Raleigh is nice now that they have more attractions by the acorn and all than they used to...but I still wouldn't mind doing the scrap exchange like I did when I was little.

i think charlotte stopped doing the crown. after certain folks who couldn't handle being out in public decided to get violent (read: fighting, gunshots, small riots) after a new years a couple years ago, and then again after the following 4th of july, the city put a freeze on organized downtown shit like that. there are still a lot of people at bars though, and their downtown >>>> raleigh's, so it is a good time still.they might have started doing the crown again this year, but as of last year they had stopped.[Edited on December 18, 2007 at 12:06 AM. Wow the last time I went to Charlotte for it was after the Meineke Car Care Bowl (2005/2006 Season). Seemed pretty safe...although we were only outside for that one small portion during the drop.

I have some people in from out of town and was wondering this too. Anything to do in the Durham/Chapel Hill area (don't want to drive to Raleigh for the acorn)? Oh and free/cheap is preferable.
