So, I wanted to get my wife tix to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra on Thursday. Before selling out, tickets were 37.50 and 47.50. So, of course, ticketmaster is out. But, these sites like http://www.ticketliquidator.com have plenty of tickets starting at fucking $122/person, going all the way up to around $1,400/person. How the hell do they get away with that? My understanding is you can go 10% over face value. It's not like they are scalping in some dark alley or something. It's a big-ass website that seems to make a business off of doing this. Of course, we'll just go buy some off somebody outside the RBC before the show, but my head just hurts thinking how ticketmaster hasn't sued the shit out of these folks. Anybody?

Are you upset that you got left out, or upset at the "moral" issue? What I'm asking is, if you had gotten a ticket before they were sold out, you probably wouldn't be bitching about the scalping. Cough up the money or don't go, pretty simple.[Edited on December 17, 2007 at 8:58 PM. Reason : .]

Like I said, I'm confident I can go Thursday night and get a pair do around face value so I'm not bitching about that. And forget morals. For me, it's more of a legal issue. Is there a loophole or something I'm not aware of?

Probably the same way that you can sell sports tickets on Ebay by selling the ticket at face value but including it as a package deal with a $500 commemorative keychain.

^ bingo...but it's kind of shady they have software that allows them to break in line, I wasn't aware of that, kind of comical though too, especially since it's a non sporting event. Are there people out there that actually pay more than face for non-sporting events??[Edited on December 17, 2007 at 9:10 PM. Reason : .]

the led zeppelin show last week was really strict about having your ID and purchase proof with your ticket - no one scalped a ticket to that one.
