I personally have no problem receiving them as gifts. However, I do tend to avoid giving them because I know some people have such big issues with them.

i'd much rather get cash than a gift card, but neither is very tactful.

When I was 15 I gave my first girlfriend 40 bucks for her birthday; at the time I thought it was a baller move on my part

i dont get why people wouldnt like them...instead of getting something you "might" want...you can get a gift card and get something you definitely want

If someone gives you a gift card it basically tells you that they didn't spend the time to get a unique gift for you

Thats fine for cousins or people you don't know that well, but I'd rather get and give actual presents to most people rather than a card that says "You're friendship is worth 100 dollars to me"

depends..

cash - not unless you think the person might need it more than any gift
gift card - yes only if the person been thinking of buying something from a long time

cash and gift cards don't show as much thought as actually buying a gift.
I don't mind getting either, but I never give them.

Gift cards all the way, fast and easy and dont have to spend tons of time looking or something, especially when you dont know what to get. I am not one of those people that shop shop shop for that one thing. Actually, most of my shopping is online. Gift cards are better than NOTHING.

LOL, you didnt spend hrs shopping at the mall for me to find that one item?

Call me queer, but I still like trying to find the perfect gift for someone than seeing their face when they open it

Most when they get giftcards are like "cool" but its never like "OMG I've always wanted one of these!" like the perfect gift can do

last year all I asked for was gift certificates, so I can buy what I wanted and not get something that is...ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, that is nice, but I will only wear that around the house.....

if you have to give a gift certificate, at least make it somewhere you know they will enjoy, not a generic gift card like walmart, unless they would really like that. Think of something a little more personal, like maybe magazine subscriptions or a barnes and noble gift card for a book if they like reading, or best buy if they are a tech nerd. just a suggestion.

a gift card to kmart, target, or walmart is the most generic present ever

you might as well just give them cash at that point

i'd rather carry a plastic card with 200 bucks on it than 200 dollars in cash

fuck that

I hate people who never have cash

I always have at least 40 bucks on me, preferably a few hundred so I don't have to pull out the plastic unless its a big time purchase

see I hate buying DVDs for people cause it doesn't seem very personal

for Christmas I got my sister a 2 gig flash drive and I repaired her laptop and have been providing live 24 hour tech support (which is fucking obnoxious)

the other sister is sadly getting the new Harry Potter
I wish I'd gotten her The Goonies instead

^its called an ellipsis

I would rather have cash than anything else. Frankly, there really is not all that much that I really want or need. I never have an answer when people ask me what to get for my birthday or Xmas. This year I'll probably get a couch and then hopefully cash.
