I have corrupt files on my laptop keeping me from starting in the regular system, so I am in Safe Mode. Before I can do a system restore, I have to save all my important papers and my Microsoft Office 2007, and the few pics I do have on here. Problem is, I can't figure out how to burn it from safe mode! (I cannot email copies of it to myself because I cannot access the internet from that computer - hence why it has to be restored copletely.)gunzz, marko: I am sorry I made this here but I need immediate assistance and the other boards won't get me help as soon as I need it. And tech support won't help me do this part.I am not in Raleigh right now, so this has to be done here or on the phone. I'll give you my number if you have the time to help me but would rather talk than type. I do not need help doing a restore, just need help getting things to burn to a disc.

put your files on a jump drive
12/14/2007 12:50:09 PM
why do you have to burn anything. Just use a flash drive.[Edited on December 14, 2007 at 12:51 PM. Reason : sorry, i didnt realize 4 of us were going to say the same thing in 30 seconds, lol]

I don't have a thumb drive, and its more than can be held on just one.The office alone is like 1.2 gbWalter, are you serious or are kidding and making me call the pedo-bear line?[Edited on December 14, 2007 at 12:51 PM. Reason : ]
12/14/2007 12:50:26 PM
umm i doubt that, do you know how much space you need because a flash drive can hold more than a CD can
12/14/2007 12:51:39 PM
ok, if you don't have a flash drive..go get 2 tablespoons of goats blood...when you have that, i'll get back to youok really, just go buy another usb flash drive

12/14/2007 12:51:57 PM
seriously, you can get flash drives that have up 32 Gigs on them... i dont understand
12/14/2007 12:52:52 PM
i would have helped if this was in tech talk
12/14/2007 12:53:00 PM
dont worry about saving the Office 2007 software...worry more about saving all your Office DOCUMENTSand if you happen to have another computer nearby and you could possibly plug into that router then yeah you could copy whatever files to another computeralso have you tried doing a system restore to like 2 weeks earlier (as opposed to 'factory condition')? that shouldnt delete any pics or documents; just fix application and OS files[Edited on December 14, 2007 at 12:54 PM. 12/14/2007 12:53:02 PM
I assume like 2-3 gb. There's a bunch of papers - like at least 30, about a disc of pics, and the Microsoft Office I am more worried about getting onto something big enough.
12/14/2007 12:53:08 PM
this has to be a jokeare you trolling?
12/14/2007 12:53:40 PM
ever seen one of these?get one or borrow one, they are everywheres and you can put 500gb or more on them. if you have more than 500gb of pics and documents you are fucked
12/14/2007 12:53:46 PM
there is no way you have 2 gigs of papers, that would be ridiculous
12/14/2007 12:54:26 PM
- 250 GB- only requires 1 USB slot for both data AND power (no additional AC adapter)- $150
12/14/2007 12:56:20 PM
No, I am not trolling. I do not know the technical stuff related to computers. I can't just go buy a $50 flash drive right now just for this one thing either. Money is too tight right now.I meant like 2-3gb TOTAL space needed I assume.I need to keep the Office program because it was given to me from someone else, and I need to be able to get it back on there without bothering them again. We tried the restore, and it didn't work. Something about my blue screen and corrupt files.

12/14/2007 12:58:55 PM
^^well copying the office program to a new system isnt gonna work...its gotta register all the .DLL files and shit...you'd be better off saving all your documents and installing a fresh copy of office...you can get ahold of one somewhere, trust meits easier to install a program than it is to redo a bunch of documents[Edited on December 14, 2007 at 1:00 PM. TreeTwista - what do you mean hook up to a router? I am on my Mom's desktop right now, so I have another comp I could use - but don't really have any transfer equip.^^ I was on the phone with tech support yesterday for an hour and a half trying all sorts of mess. A restore was one of them - and the restore effed up nd now I have to start in Safe Mode because a blue screen comes up right after it loads and then restarts it again. Thanks though! I definitely would NOT be doing this if I didn't absolutely have to.[Edited on December 14, 2007 at 1:01 PM. Reason : ]

just get a jump drive and transfer your files. it's about $20 it sounds like this is the cheapest option hereI wouldn't really worry about getting Microsoft Office back. In the long run, you'll probably have to install that again anyway (the program is on there, but what you want is the setup application).if need be, get the important files off of Office and put them on the jump drive

how important, in the long run, is the papers and pics on the computer that is trying to be saved??not saying it is time yet, but throwing in the towel, and giving those papers and pics to the computer gods and turning over a brand new leaf can sometimes be refreshing. good luck.

as has been mentioned many times in the thread and yet still hasn't registered in your head:you cannot just save your MS Office (folder), transfer it to the new system, and expect anything to work. If you could do that, then why would anyone need setup files? They'd just go around copying each others' program folders.
12/14/2007 1:16:41 PM
Yeah, I caught the best buy thing before calling.I can not connect to the internet whatsoever. VOLCOM, I get the point. I can not dump these papers. They're very important, and possible grad school entrance quality papers.[Edited on December 14, 2007 at 1:17 PM. Reason : ]
