You guys are pretty creative so please help me out! Slightly long explanation but please read!

Okay, so I've already made arrangements to skip work Monday, I'll be out of town and there's no reversing it. However, these plans were made too short of notice for my company's "ask off policy" so I'm just calling in sick.

HOWEVER, today I got a call from another company concerning a project I'm working on. They want to meet with me at 8am Monday morning. I'd probably be accompanied by my boss to this meeting. The meeting is at 8am, which most likely means I'd go straight to the meeting with the project folder and meet my boss there. I tried to change the meeting to later in the day but they said they can't.

So I don't know what to do. If I call in sick (as planned) at 7:30am Monday my boss will be unprepared and fuck up the meeting without me. Plus he'll know I know I have a meeting, therefore calling in "sick" won't come across as a good excuse. I'll be in MD this weekend and my hope is that the predicted storm on Saturday/Sunday is bad enough with snow for that to be my reason to not make it back in time Monday, but that depends heavily on the weather. Another thought is to have my mom call in for me, telling them I'm very sick (at which point I'd have to skip 2 days to make it look good).

Anyway I cut it, looks like someone's gonna get pissed off at me. (btw i don't care that much about my company being pissed at me as I'm looking around at other companies right now.

^not following that at all.

Ahh, some background. Okay I live in NYC, so I'll in theory be "driving back from MD" where its also supposed to snow. In reality I'll be in NC Monday and driving back to NYC monday afternoon.

Well the weather crapped out on me, so I had to think of something else: mechanical failure.

I mean I couldn't get back to NYC without a car right? So unfortunately my fuel filter clogged up. Its the perfect reason. If for some reason my boss was an ass and wanted to see the new car part, no can do. If he wanted to see a receipt I'd say oh it was just a filter replacement I tossed it.

Jackpot! (and it worked)
