I live in NYC and went to this nice place tonight. They had pigeon on the menu. How could I NOT order it and figure out if it was with the $30 price on the menu?

It was delicious, a little bit like duck. But it was doused in some sauce so its not like I had the "pure" experience

People eat doves. Doves are just white motherfucking pigeons. Why the fuck would someone want to eat a pigeon?

when i was in china i got a whole damn duck for like 8 dollars. it was a really famous duck restaurant and even though it was the most expensive place we went the whole time, it was very reasonable.

still, pigeon on the menu in NYC is surprising to me. can you imagine the profit potential!

the proper term is not pigeon... it's "squab"

that way people don't have to make peace with eating a winged rat.

Once we ate a a robin when I was at my vegetarian boarding school

It was kinda like chicken but not as good

It probably would have been better if we cooked it with something better than tin foil and a lighter

They found a dead bird on the campus of my high school once, and this crazy bitch who thought she was a vampire freaked out and wanted it really badly so she could take it home and ... I don't know what she planned to do with it, but it wasn't so she could eat it.

I've got this hilarious image in my head now of a bus boy being sent outside to get more pigeons, and him walking out the front door and just smashing the first one he sees with a shovel.

I eat pigeon all the time. Its one of my favorite meals back home. They are actually raised on farms and NOT the pigeons you see in trafalgar square in England.

Pigeons >>> Chicken.

did you get to go up on the roof to the coop and pick your own like you can do with lobster in some seafood restaurants?

Also, adult pigeons are rarely served in restaurants. They tend to get VERY gamy.

Pretty much if it was roasted and served, it was squab.

If it was braised or some other long, moist cooking method, it was likely pigeon.

I've had pigeon stew, but I'm not sure I would pay $30 for it. why not just go to your local park and catch one. be a lot cheaper.
