Could it be the Yankees? What is the greatest team of all sports?Maybe Michigan for being such a college football dynasty

carl face
12/13/2007 12:42:01 AM
Yankees no doubt. 26 World Series Championships. The next closest team is the St. Louis Cardinals with 10. No team is hated on more than the Yankees. No team has been as dominant over the years as they have.
12/13/2007 12:43:30 AM
What is up with the n00bs and new aliases in ST now?
12/13/2007 12:50:33 AM
12/13/2007 12:52:01 AM
Probably the Yankees.Definitely NOT Michigan, where did you come up with that? Also: message_topic.aspx?topic=400622
12/13/2007 1:02:02 AM
probably because they have the highest winning percentage for any college program as well as the most wins
12/13/2007 1:03:04 AM
^
12/13/2007 1:21:06 AM
meh, I guess way back in the day they were dominant, along with Harvard, Yale, Army and Navy.
12/13/2007 1:26:17 AM
not too bad the past ten years, eitherunless you don't want to count those five conference championships and that national championship[Edited on December 13, 2007 at 1:29 AM. Reason : ]
12/13/2007 1:29:10 AM
I didn't say they weren't great.I'm only questioning their greatest ever claim.
12/13/2007 1:30:41 AM
i think being the winningest program of all time certainly bodes well for that argument
12/13/2007 1:31:34 AM
ha, i dont know how anybody cant agree that michigan is the greatest college football program ever
12/13/2007 1:32:02 AM
We can start to narrow it by defining the greatest team of each sportSo farMLB: YankeesNCAA FB: MichiganI think yankees myself[Edited on December 13, 2007 at 2:47 AM. Reason : bd61]
12/13/2007 2:14:50 AM
bwahahahaI guess it comes down to whether you want to define greatest in terms of winning % or championships.[Edited on December 13, 2007 at 2:46 AM. Reason : ]

The 1973 NCSU Men's Basketball team.
12/13/2007 8:20:23 AM
probably North Carolina
12/13/2007 8:52:01 AM
Iowa Hawkeyes Wrestling (20 national Championships)orOklahoma State Cowboys Wrestling (34 national championships)But Iowa has been the domination for for the past 30 years:Iowa NCAA Wrestling team titles: 1975, 1976, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000As you can see, only SIX times from 1975-2000 did any team other than Iowa win an NCAA team championship. They also have the NCAA record for team points scored at an individual NCAA national championship tournament and a record 5 individual champions one year out of the 10 possible. They also won their conference every year as well as amassed a record of 391-25-5 with a win percentage of 93%.They also have had two of America's best wrestlers EVER come through that program. Dan Gable and Cael Sanderson. Cael Sanderson is possibly the most dominating NCAA Athlete ever. Never losing a match, going 159-0 with 4 straight national championships, then going on to train for the 2004 Olympics and winning a Gold medal. No other team has dominated a college sport like that as a team. EVER besides possibly the Wooden UCLA basketball era. and yea i guess unc women's soccer as an honorable mention.[Edited on December 13, 2007 at 9:09 AM. Reason : ]

NCAAB- UNC, hands down, has more championships spread out over longer period of time, 1924, 1957,1982,1993,2005, 2008 - has, without argument, produced more successful basketball players than any other schoolDuke is a close second, then i'd say kentucky, then UCLA (those 11 years were incredible, but thats all they had, they had multiple years where they sucked, Carolina had one)[Edited on December 13, 2007 at 9:38 AM. NCAA BB I would have Kentucky #1and even though they are #1 and #2 in my most hated things in life list, I would haveNCAA FB - Notre Dame (with Bama really really close)MLB - YankeesNow I need to go take a shower after typing that shit[Edited on December 13, 2007 at 10:03 AM. Reason : g]

12/13/2007 12:36:36 PM
yeah UCLA also won a championship in 95 and has gone to the final four back-to-back
12/13/2007 12:40:05 PM
yeah the Spurs have the best win percentage of the 4 major pro sports leagues over the last 10-12 years i believe...but "only" 3 titles in that span
12/13/2007 12:40:07 PM
they have 4but the first was during the short season in 99
12/13/2007 12:42:05 PM
oh yeah they did win last year
12/13/2007 12:43:06 PM
Spurs are def. going to surpass bullsUCLA had TOO many WEAK years, It's not even a question, UNC is the best college basketball school ever, they've shown the most longevityI absolutly despise carolina, but can't argue with the fact that they have the best program in the countryI think what the patriots have done the past few years have been one of the most incredible things done in professional sports history
12/13/2007 1:12:28 PM
you don't know anything about sports history do you? Both Kentucky and UCLA are better basketball schools than UNC.
