It doesn't hurt at all. I can clinch it (like when you make a fist), but only weakly. The real problem is I can't move it the opposite way any further than my ring finger is at the moment. It's tough to explain. Think of it like this: I can't move my pinky in the manner that is needed to make the wolf sign. It just feels like it's not responding or something. What do you think and how long should I give it before I go to the doctor? It's not that big of a deal, but it's very difficult to type and kinda weird to hold onto stuff. At least it's on my left hand and I'm right handed.

It's cancer. Best to kill yourself now.But in all seriousness, I have no clue. Did you injure your pinky in any way recently?
12/11/2007 5:59:41 PM
we were throwing a football outside a little. maybe jammed it and didn't realize it. but it doesn't hurt at all.

carpal tunnel syndrome. A drastic analysis but its possible depending how long you've had these symptoms. Either that or you are sleeping on your hand weird and causing it to just have a prolonged state of numbness.[Edited on December 11, 2007 at 6:05 PM. Reason : carpal not carpel]

i've experienced pain in other fingers before from carpal tunnel syndrome, especially when i was taking a lot of computer classes in high school. it was never my pinky and i never lost the ability to move anything. maybe you're right.

I hurt my pinky finger and knuckle last Friday playing football. It's probably that.
12/11/2007 6:27:32 PM
did it get better?
12/11/2007 6:54:27 PM
Actually, I doubt it's carpal tunnel, since carpal tunnel causes problems with digits innervated by the median nerve. Your pinky is mostly innervated by the ulnar nerve, which runs outside of the carpal tunnel:You could have an issue with your ulnar nerve as it courses around your elbow, which is very common. Is your pinky numb/tingling/painful especially after you wake up in the morning?[Edited on December 11, 2007 at 7:10 PM. Reason : ]

so maybe i fucked up my ulnar nerve. should i go to a doctor over break if this isn't better?[Edited on December 11, 2007 at 7:11 PM. Reason : i never realized how much i used my left pinky]

try sleeping with your arms straight...somehow (yeah not very helpful, but ive heard that ulnar nerve issues are worse if you fold your arms up all night, as it stretches the nerve)
12/11/2007 7:11:44 PM
clearly, amputation is the only solution.
12/11/2007 7:12:00 PM
i always sleep flat on my back with my arms straight at my sides[Edited on December 11, 2007 at 7:12 PM. Reason : gotta watch my cornhole]

numbness? tingling? pain? weakness? any other symptoms?it's too vague to tell at this point
12/11/2007 7:14:21 PM
it's weak and i can't move it at an angle past my ring finger (see wolf hand sign reference in first post), but that's it. doesn't hurt, no numbness, no tingling
12/11/2007 7:15:27 PM
Not to be morbid, but it could be the beginnings of Parkinson's - of the three people I know with it, symptoms first starting showing up in their pinky fingers.
12/11/2007 7:16:45 PM
can i just cut off my pinky before it spreads?
12/11/2007 7:17:29 PM
this sounds more like an orthopedic problem than a neurological thing. have you experienced any trauma to that part of your hand? boxer's break perhaps?
12/11/2007 7:29:31 PM
it's getting better! i can make the wolf symbol, but he has a floppy ear.
12/11/2007 7:54:32 PM
i burned the hell out of my left hand todayit was pretty much useless for several hours
12/11/2007 10:34:29 PM
