don't cite websites

I've looked at hundreds of academic journal citations and have never seen one website cited

Quote :

what good does this do? you know how to cite an entire database?

^^^ Web sites are acceptable in academic essays, but one must use legitimate Internet sources and verify their authenticity (APA, pp. 268-271; MLA, pp. 41-45). After all, even scholarly sources should be verified.

BTW, it's Web site--not "website"--in the APA, MLA, and AP manuals. FYI.
