to come out and say "I guarantee a win against S. Carolina State." We need a playmaker, a leader, and someone to step up and say "this isn't the NC State team we know we are."Who will it be?If it happens, I'm positive it will be Grant. He's the only one who gives a damn.Other candidates?

when you say that, are you wanting someone that loses to their rival all 4 years?
12/10/2007 9:01:22 AM
like that would make a fuck
12/10/2007 9:01:27 AM
nothing else is working.

guaranteeing a win isn't always the best way of going about getting motivated for a game.Signed,Anthony SmithSeriously though, this team needs to have a heart check and find ways to get motivated within themselves as a team within the locker room. One guy standing out from the rest isn't what we need. The problem with this team is that we are not A TEAM.
12/10/2007 9:40:51 AM
that's what we need! a gimmick!
12/10/2007 9:41:25 AM
Smith was a gimmick. Hart got on TV and I believed him. During that presser, I was convinced. Of course, it was Notre Dame and not a team akin to the Patriots. There's no reason why we CAN'T beat S. Carolina State... if not for our own damned selves. That's the situation Hart was in. Michigan was a talented team who lost to a I-AA opponent. We've essentially suffered that kind of defeat twice. We need a heart check. We need a Julius Hodge to come out and say something to motivate these sorry sacks of shit.

so we need gavin grant to guarantee a win against south carolina state -- a game we should win anywaywhat's the benefit of that?[Edited on December 10, 2007 at 9:57 AM. Reason : MAN I TOLD YOU WE'D BEAT SOUTH CAROLINA STATE]
12/10/2007 9:47:23 AM
^^^i agree that someone needs to say something. But NOT TO THE PRESS OR THE PUBLIC. Guaranteeing a win against a team we should theoretically beat by 20 anyway means nothing. Say it man to man within that locker room and give yourselves a gut check. Is this how we are going to play all year or are we going to start playing hard ON BOTH ENDS OF THE COURT and give some freaking effort?although, personally, i don't really know how much of this is lack of effort (definitely a part) or lack of coaching right now. Good coaches teams come out flat all of the time against teams they should hammer, such as UNC with BYU this year, but Roy called a TO, got pissed but then calmed and told the team what to do, and they came out and won the game.[Edited on December 10, 2007 at 9:51 AM. And why shouldn't michigan have destroyed Notre Dame. They barely won a game this year. It's the effect of what can happen. Michigan's team began to believe after sinking to the lowest possible spot.At this point, I'm not convinced we should be destroying any team. An 0 - 2 Michigan v. an 0 - 2 Notre Dame... although hindsight, that game was easily Michigan's... there wasn't a real absolute positive that Michigan would win.
12/10/2007 10:18:00 AM
the difference being that michigan had yet to win a single game and had suffered the most embarrassing loss in the history of college footballthey hadn't proven they could win anything and were about to play a rival in notre damewe've lost a bunch of games to shitty schools but there have been moments when the team looked like they knew what they were doingwe don't need to guarantee anything, we don't need gimmicks, south carolina state is not a statement gamewe just need to win and look coherent doing it
12/10/2007 10:21:42 AM
I think our situations are similar enough to call it equal.NC State could've beaten Notre Dame last year.I do believe that the ECU game was the most embarrassing loss in the history of NC State basketball.[Edited on December 10, 2007 at 10:23 AM. Reason : .]
12/10/2007 10:22:47 AM
We need a Mike HartWe'll get an Anthony Smith

^ I'm grasping at air... I want something to happen... something, anything.Something HAS to happen. We have no leader. And in situations like this, a leader is needed.
12/10/2007 10:26:04 AM
i agree 10000% with that -- and grant should be the leaderbut do it on the court, not at the press conference
12/10/2007 10:27:53 AM
12/10/2007 10:28:01 AM
^ The fact that it was ECU, even though a better team than UNO, still makes it a horrid, embarrassing, chart topping loss.^^ Sometimes we need a vocal leader too.[Edited on December 10, 2007 at 10:29 AM. Reason : .]
12/10/2007 10:29:16 AM
i think grant has already proven his ability to be a leader by making statements to the press is laughable at besthe isn't julius hodge
12/10/2007 10:31:52 AM
^ I agree. I wish it were anyone else who would step up, but it looks like it's Gavin.
