Wins the FCS semi-finals 55-35, after two close playoff games. App almost blew a 35-14 2nd quarter lead, allowing them to come back to 35-35 in the 3rd, before 3 unanswered touchdowns. i watched the 2nd half of this game - seriously, Armanti Edwards is a beast. A 6'0", 175lb beast. Edwards alone:Passing - 14/16, 192 yards, 12.0 average, 3 TDs, 0 intRushing - 313 yards, 10.1 average, 4 TDsToo bad o'brien didn't take my advice after they won last year.....
12/7/2007 11:42:00 PM
There's no way he is 6 feet tall or weighs 175.I'm gonna have to say 5'10 160.[Edited on December 7, 2007 at 11:43 PM. Reason : But yes, I watched it, and yes, it was awesome. Wish I could have been there.]
12/7/2007 11:43:04 PM
still fucking SUBDIVISION
12/7/2007 11:45:16 PM
actually, i thought i heard the announcer say 5'9" or 5'10", and that's what he looks like, but his ESPN page says 6'0"^ yes, it is. but that doesn't change the fact that Armanti Edwards can fucking play ball[Edited on December 7, 2007 at 11:46 PM. Reason : .]
12/7/2007 11:46:01 PM
they still lost to Wofford and Georgia Southern and Edwards could NEVER make it in the NFL
12/7/2007 11:50:24 PM
Yeah well he is LISTED at 6'Just like every player at VT runs sub 4.5 40's.[Edited on December 7, 2007 at 11:52 PM. Reason : ^ He could make it as kick returner and perhaps WR]
12/7/2007 11:51:17 PM
There are so many stupid posts in that other thread.Edwards>Evans, Beck, Burke combined^^Edwards was hurt those two games, so why are you hating on him?[Edited on December 7, 2007 at 11:59 PM. Reason : ^^I wouldn't be so sure of that][Edited on December 8, 2007 at 12:08 AM. Reason : ...]

In Chuck's words "Non-qualifier". Did you listen to this blue gum talk after the game? this kid wouldn't last a full season in real college football. Will never be a Pro QB.The only miracle that came out of 1AA football is Tony Romo
12/8/2007 1:27:02 AM
12/8/2007 1:27:51 AM
I'm almost positive he played in the loss to Ga Southern. He may not have been 100%, but he was in there. However, he wasn't the problem, they still scored a lot, but their defense has been pretty weak this year.
12/8/2007 1:31:41 AM
Is there any defense in FCS? not from what I saw tonight. App was fortunate of some awful decisions by Richmond
12/8/2007 1:36:07 AM
12/8/2007 1:48:12 AM
^ we're talking about football... i don't understand what you were going for there.
12/8/2007 1:58:52 AM
i was just correcting an ignorant post. Also, I do believe
12/8/2007 2:03:18 AM
He would be better than Evans, until he took a few hits from ACC linebackers that are just as fast as him and 80 lbs heavier. I guess he might have helped us beat UCF. Does anyone think this guy would actually stay healthy through the season in I-A football?PS: Sign of the game goes to the row of people phonetically spelling out "APP-UH-LATCH-UN". How many consecutive I-AA National Championships do they need to win for the pompous Midwestern newspeople and football analysts to pronounce it right?[Edited on December 8, 2007 at 5:51 AM. Yeah, I was at this game. The guy is so fun to watch in person, but you can really see just how tiny he is. He missed 3 games after they played Michigan, not because of any specific injury, he was just completely beat to hell. And according to the fans, he really wasn't back to himself until a couple games ago. One game getting tackled by 300 pounders and he was put out of commission for practically an entire regular season. He's an awesome player, but just too small to really do anything else beyond this level. Kick returner is about the only thing I could ever see him doing in the next level, and that's only if he has a death wish.
12/8/2007 8:20:36 AM
I'd love to have him QB my flag football team.
12/8/2007 9:58:59 AM
12/8/2007 10:28:38 AM
12/8/2007 11:10:29 AM
we would just put edwards under center and have him do five-step drops followed by an incomplete five-yard out on every single play
12/8/2007 11:29:19 AM
You make it sound like Evans is a lot bigger than Edwards, but somehow Evans can take hits from ACC LBs. And I'm willing to bet Evans isn't the 6'2, 190 listed on State's page. But he's only a sophomore, he will get bigger and better. He won't be tall enough to be an NFL QB...maybe like a Randel El, let him get some WR reverse passes in there too. But probably not that either, he'll make it to the CFL with all his other App alumni.
12/8/2007 11:34:56 AM
Evans doesn't run much, and when he does it's not like Edwards does.Every time Edwards gets tackled, theres a huge tangle of arms and legs, and you hope he hasn't broken anything. Not only does he not slide, he doesn't even brace for impacts, he just keeps running.

Randy Moss went to Marshall before they went 1-A..I'm sure he knew they were going there tho. Also, your Cowboy Dexter Coakley was an App alum
12/8/2007 4:32:52 PM
dude got stopped short of the first and carried like 2 richmond guys over the line
12/8/2007 4:36:46 PM
yeah - maybe Edwards could stand up against 1-A d-backs, and maybe he wouldn't. but he was consistently rolling over and dragging with him 2 and 3 guys that were much bigger than him. And he was getting smashed around all over the place and popping back up like nothing hit him.
12/8/2007 4:53:57 PM
Dixon is about the same size as Edwards... he seemed to hold up fine. He would be the Heisman if it weren't for a knee injury that had nothing to do w/ size. There are a lot of ignorant posts on this thread, everyone who plays football isn't 6'4 230. You don't have to be a monster in size to take a hit.

rag on armanti edwards and app state all you want, but let's face it, they'd have beat us this year. the wolfpack defense would never have caught that skinny little fucker.
12/8/2007 8:46:11 PM
^Perhaps, but he would have been injured for the next few weeks.
12/8/2007 8:51:57 PM
have any of you guys noticed how crazy App State fans are? Tickets to the National Champion ship game cost $20 but they're selling on ebay for $300 a pair. Tickets went on sale after the Semifinal game for Season ticket holders, Yosef club members(donors) and students. They sold out by lunch on Sat. I was talking to one guy who bought some tickets from the Chattanooga website two months ago. They sell the tickets to locals throughout the season so if two distant schools go to the championship they would still have some turnout.
12/9/2007 8:58:07 PM
lol. funny thing is, come a few years ago, no one cared at all.I was IN boone for their homecoming game my sophomore year i think it was. (we had a show the night before near boone) and i remember kids waking up that morning and walking to get tickets at the gate because it wasnt sold out and they knew the stadium wasnt even going to fill up.[Edited on December 9, 2007 at 9:01 PM. 12/9/2007 11:29:30 PM
no. see all you did was really prove my point. im not arguing anything different than what you yourself just said! for starters, i didnt say anything about our fan base. but that was my point, lots of places are like that/us. But the way I read his post made it sound like 'omg they have such a rabid, awesome fan base.' When really, they are just like every other school (worse actually..the percentage they filled their seats up before the past few years was atrocious), so his post about their 'crazy' fans was pointless.
12/9/2007 11:34:55 PM
oh, yeah - i guess your post does make sense in response to Clevelander's. i thought it was just generally more hating on App
12/9/2007 11:40:49 PM
ASU is like any other school, they support the good teams. They cannot however call their fanbase good because outside of football, they don't support anything. They finished 2nd in the Southern Conference in basketball and the Holmes Center is always about half full with a good team. I mean they won a school record 25 games last year. But Ill be supporting them all the way. GO APPS.
12/9/2007 11:55:11 PM
^ they might have gone overboard with the Holmes Center, especially for a school that size made up of their demographics. I'm not sure what demographics are good at filling up basketball arenas, but i doubt it overlaps too much with hippies and teachers.
12/9/2007 11:59:48 PM
almost all of the people I know who went to App were UNC basketball fans
12/10/2007 12:03:22 AM
Wasn't there some talk about APP moving up to D-1 sometime in the near future??
12/10/2007 12:05:03 AM
i believe that i read that they don't have the road access necessary, or something. but i'm no expert.
