srsly tho

i was delivering around raleigh today, and this woman in front of me was driving really erratically, swerving, under the speed limit, etc. with people blaring their horns at her and yelling...
I noticed she wasn't reacting to any of it, and that she didn't look right, so i followed her about a block, and she tried to turn into a shopping center entrance, but turned late, and had to stop to avoid outgoing traffic - i pulled over, got out, and ran over there, calling 911 as i did. i got to her, and got her to move her car a little so that traffic could get by, while waiting on the cops...i wasn't sure if she was drunk or what, but I told dispatch to go ahead and send an ambulance - dispatch asked more health related questions, making sure it was necessary i guess - the ems guys got there before the police, talked to her, etc and put her on a stretcher, while i moved her car to a parking space.
when i finished that, and talked to the ems guys again, they said I had saved her life, and that my timely call had helped her avoid a heart attack.

this just goes to show that we need to be just as concerned for others, as ourselves - had i not stepped up, who knows how much worse things would have gotten...that woman has a family that will spend christmas with her, that's all i know.

as soon as you said that you needed an ambulance, one was dispatched. the questions are asked while the ambulance is en route so we can have some more information, but we're already on the way.
