great when you don't have a stove!

Does the microwave grill the bread or just make the cheese melt?
12/7/2007 1:02:47 PM
:-\
12/7/2007 1:03:04 PM
i dont see how you could make grilled cheese sandwiches in a microwave.
12/7/2007 1:03:23 PM
It makes the cheese melt. You only put it in for like 10-12 seconds on high.
12/7/2007 1:06:11 PM
This would work better if you had a toaster as well.
12/7/2007 1:06:27 PM
that sounds like a soggy melted cheese sandwich
12/7/2007 1:06:35 PM
So it's a melted cheese sandwich, and not a grilled chese sandwich. The two are simply not comparable.

Hey man when all u got is a bunch of sandwich stuff and a microwave you do what you can!
12/7/2007 1:13:50 PM
Better or worse to toast the bread, then melt the cheese in the micro? I would think less moisture in the bread than the cheese would make the cheese melt faster in the micro, but it might just start burning the toast instead. Report.

i had a friend who cooked some frozen breaded chicken patties on the eye of the stove once while drunk - wanted a "grilled" look to themstarted a small fire
12/7/2007 1:57:45 PM
^^ If you wanted it like (or as like as you can get with a microwave) a real grilled cheese you would butter it, so it wouldn't be dry.
12/7/2007 2:00:36 PM
The microwave moistens the bread.
12/7/2007 2:03:05 PM
^bleh. hate moist bread. my mom always freezes loaves to keep them longer, but when they defrost, there's always this moistness to each piece that is undesirable
12/7/2007 2:07:51 PM
Cheese, nor bread, will burn in the microwave. The microwave can't get them hot enough to brown, much less burn.
12/7/2007 2:10:18 PM
^ That makes no sense.
12/7/2007 2:12:28 PM
Why doesn't it?let me clarify a condition to my statement that i thought would be assumed.1) you are not a moron who microwaves a sandwich for two minutes on highThe question was whether the microwave would burn toasted bread before the cheese melted.[Edited on December 7, 2007 at 2:23 PM. George Forman grill works well.
12/7/2007 2:39:03 PM
^^^ I thought when you said it couldn't get it hot enough you meant at all, not just in a reasonable microwaving time.
12/7/2007 2:44:46 PM
ahhaaha I wonder what my boss would do if she came in and I had a George foreman on my desk making some grilled cheese sandwiches.
12/7/2007 2:46:23 PM
They good.If you're making a sammy with two slices of bread use two slices of cheese, but heat it with the cheese laying on top of the bread pieces and then smush the sandwich together after it is heated. You can also lay a single piece of cheese on a slice of bread, heat it, and roll it up into a little cheese dog thing after it is heated.

12/7/2007 2:50:23 PM
Yeah you should if you haven't already.I'd do it right now, but I don't have any cheese.NO CHEESE OFF KAPLAN.
12/9/2007 1:06:54 AM
ham + cheese + grill = mouth deliciousness
12/9/2007 1:13:11 AM
When I lived in the dorm I had a sammich maker that my neighbor gave me for a graduation present. Every time the fire inspector came I would pull the top layer of clothes off my dirty clothes hamper and toss the grill in before covering it back up with some dirty underwear and shit. I always assumed my sandwich maker would fall under the rules of such items as "hot plates" that were also banned.
12/9/2007 1:40:43 AM
it's better to butter the shit out of it, wrap it in aluminum foil and take the iron to that bad boy
12/9/2007 2:43:28 AM
this thread is making me hungry for breakfast.
12/9/2007 5:26:00 AM
we used to eat microwave cheese sandwiches all the time as kids, and still do occasionally. is this really the first time you've tried it?
12/9/2007 9:32:08 AM
snackster ftw. i love to slice some neese's liver pudding and put a slice of pepperjack cheese on it in the sandwich maker.
12/9/2007 10:01:20 AM
i do this, i just put the bread in the toaster first and it takes less than 2 min to make total. and if you want butter on it i just use some spray butter before i put it in the microwave to melt the cheese
12/9/2007 11:21:56 AM
This shit is retarddundulous.
